Kantha Gunatilleke was the 4th Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa. He was appointed on April 1999 succeeding Jayatilake Podinilame and was Chief Minister until June 1999. He was succeeded by Athauda Seneviratne. [1]

Chief Ministers in Sri Lanka are elected heads of the provincial boards of ministers, bodies which aid and advice the governors, the heads of the provincial government, in the exercise of their executive power. The governor appoints as chief minister a member of the provincial council who, in his opinion, commands the support of a majority of that council. There are nine chief ministerial positions in the country, out of which only six are currently occupied, while 3 are vacant and under the governor's direct rule.

H. Jayatilake Podinilame was a Sri Lankan politician who served as the 3rd Chief Minister of Sabaragamuwa. He was appointed on March 1993 succeeding Abeyratne Pilapitiya and was Chief Minister until June 1998. He was succeeded by Kantha Gunatilleke after a period of vacancy.

Athauda Seneviratne is a Sri Lankan politician and a former member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.He is also a former Cabinet Minister of Sri Lanka.

The Burke Ministry was the ministry of the sixth Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Denis Burke. It was sworn in on 9 February 1999, following the resignation of former Chief Minister Shane Stone the previous day. While Stone told the media that his resignation was "pretty much" of his own timing and he wished to give the new CLP leader sufficient time to prepare for the 2001 election, it followed a meeting of backbenchers and some cabinet ministers advocating his removal. Burke was elected unopposed as leader. It was in office until 26 August 2001, when the Burke government lost the 2001 election to Clare Martin's Labor Party.
