Professor Kapila G. A. Gunasekara is a Sri Lankan academic. [1] He was the first Vice Chancellor of the University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC), Sri Lanka. [2] [3] A professor of Agriculture, he was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya from 2000 to 2006. [1] Before serving as the vice chancellor of the Peradeniya University, he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
He was born in Galle District and received his school education at Mahinda College, Galle. [1]
The Open University of Sri Lanka is a national university in Sri Lanka. It is unique within the Sri Lankan national university system for being the only university to offer programs of study leading to certificate, diploma, degrees and postgraduate degrees up to PhD level through the Open and Distance Mode of Learning (ODL). A Professor of Biochemistry, he was the chairman of the Association of Commonwealth Universities from 1983 to 1984.
