Kapuwatta is one of the largest suburbs of Ja-Ela, Colombo, Sri Lanka. It has many institutes such as the Thiriposha Factory and Gampaha District's largest shopping mall KZone Ja-Ela.

Ja-Ela is a suburb of Colombo, located approximately 20 km (12 mi) north of the Colombo city centre. Ja-Ela lies on the A3 road which overlaps with the Colombo – Katunayake Expressway at the Ja-Ela Interchange.

Her parliamentary committee assignments included the Welfare, and Public Enterprises committees as well as the ad hoc committee on Surrogate Motherhood. Dassanayake Mudiyanselage Dassanayake was a Sri Lankan politician from the Puttalam District. He was serving as a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and non-cabinet Minister of Nation Building when he was assassinated in a roadside bomb attack on 8 January 2008 in Ja-Ela, twelve miles north of Colombo. The attack, which was blamed on the militant Tamil Tigers organization, killed three people and injured ten others.

Ja-Ela electoral district was an electoral district of Sri Lanka between August 1947 and February 1989. The district was named after the town of Ja-Ela in present-day Gampaha District, Western Province. The 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka introduced the proportional representation electoral system for electing members of Parliament. The existing 160 mainly single-member electoral districts were replaced with 22 multi-member electoral districts. Colombo - Katunayake Expressway E03  is Sri Lanka's second E Class highway. The 25.8-kilometre-long (16.0 mi) highway links the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake and Negombo. Construction on the highway began in October 2009, and it was opened on 27 October 2013, by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa. The highway has three lanes each way from Colombo to Peliyagoda, and two lanes each way from Peliyagoda to Katunayake, with the width ranging from 26 to 33.5 metres.

The Puttalam line is a 5 ft 6 in broad gauge railway line in the rail network of Sri Lanka. The 133 km (83 mi) railway line begins at Ragama junction and runs through the major towns along the north-west coast of the country, through to Periyanagavillu. It has forty two stations along its length.

K-Zone is a two storey shopping mall complex in the vicinity of the Kapuwatta suburb area of Ja-Ela. The building was opened to the public in October 2013.
