Karachi Lahore is a series of Pakistani road comedy romantic films directed by Wajahat Rauf and written by Yasir Hussain. [1] The first film of the series was released in 2015. [2] [3] Karachi Se Lahore, featured an ensemble cast including Shehzad Sheikh and Ayesha Omer playing lead roles. Whereas Javed Sheikh, Yasir Hussain, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Eshita Syed, Aashir Wajahat, Mantaha Tareen Maqsood and Rasheed Naz all played supporting roles.

In its opening weekend, the film collected Rs. 2 crores at the local box office and at the end of its run, film reached the benchmark of Rs. 10.30 crores. [4] It became the first Pakistani film to be premiered in Hollywood. [5] After the success of the first film the spin-off sequel titled Lahore Se Aagey was released in 2016. [6] [7] With Yasir playing as a lead, alongside Saba Qamar, the film did well at the box office, earning more than Rs. 21 crores at the box office and became the 4th highest-grossing film of 2016. [8] After the success of first two films, director Wajahat Rauf announced that a third film titled, Karachi-Lahore-Karachi would sometime around 2019. [9] [10]

Plot

Karachi Se Lahore (2015)

Zaheem, the protagonist has been mistreated his entire life by his parents, teachers, bosses and his girlfriend. But when he learns that his longtime girlfriend Ayesha is marrying her cousin in Lahore, he decides to stand up for himself for the first time in his life and go to Lahore to stop the wedding. He gets help from his friends Moti, Sam, his neighbor Mariyam and her little brother, Zeezo. They take Mariyam's dad's Jeep, which is a precious Jeep no one can take. Her dad is going to Islamabad, so he won't know about it. As they all go on the road trip, Zaheem gets closer with Mariyam. They stop to take a break and it turns out they went the wrong way. Zaheem slaps Moti and they argue about it. Later, they reconcile. Some Pashtun people kidnap Sam. Zeezo knows where they went so they go there. In order to take Sam back, Mariyam has to dance in front of everyone. Zaheem falls in love with Mariyam. They finally arrive in Lahore and at Ayesha's wedding. They see Mariyam's dad over there, so they stay away from him. Zaheem sees Ayesha. He goes to her and tells her how much he loves her. Mariyam sees this and runs away crying. Zaheem realizes he loves Mariyam, not Ayesha. He runs after Mariyam and they talk. Zaheem proposes to Mariyam with a Cornetto. She says yes and they celebrate. Mariyam's dad sees the Jeep and he drives it to Zaheem, Mariyam, Sam, Moti and Zeezo. They all see the Jeep and the dad. The film ends with them screaming "Papa".

Lahore Se Aagey (2016)

Moti from the original film continues his journey from Lahore to Swat where he meets a female rock star Taraa Ahmed.

Shahzad Sheikh is a Pakistani television and film actor. He is the son of Pakistani actor, director and producer Jawed Sheikh. He made his acting debut with the television series Dreamers (2011), and has since gained success with starring roles in several successful television series, including the comedy Annie Ki Ayegi Baraat (2012), the teen romance Choti Si Zindagi (2016), the romantic drama Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai (2017), the spiritual drama Alif Allah Aur Insaan (2017), the religious drama Qurban (2017), and the romances Tabeer (2018), Anaa (2019). Yasir Hussain is a Pakistani screenwriter, actor, playwright and host from Islamabad best known for his comic roles. He hosted The After Moon Show on Hum TV. He is also known for playing the antagonist in the 2018 social drama Baandi.

Lahore Se Aagey is a 2016 Pakistani road-comedy romantic film directed by Wajahat Rauf, written by Yasir Hussain and Produced by Wajahat Rauf, Asfand Faruok, Salman Iqbal, and Jarjees Seja. The film is a spin-off to 2015 comedy film Karachi Se Lahore and second installment in Karachi Lahore film series. It features an all star cast, including Hussain along with Saba Qamar, Behroze Sabzwari, Abdullah Farhatullah, Mubashir Malik, Atiqa Odho, Rubina Ashraf and Noor ul Hasan. The film was released worldwide on 11 November 2016 under the production banner of Showcase Films. Upon release, it received criticism from critics and became a moderate box office success.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, sometimes abbreviated as JPNA 2, is a 2018 Pakistani romantic comedy film, directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Vasay Chaudhry. It is a joint venture of Salman Iqbal Films, Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib's Six Sigma Plus, and Jerjees Seja's ARY Films. It is sequel to the 2015 film Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, and the second installment in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani film series. The cast includes Humayun Saeed, Ahmed Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Uzma Khan and Sarwat Gillani all of whom reprise their roles from previous film, along with Fahad Mustafa, Kubra Khan, and Mawra Hocane who join the franchise.

Punjab Nahi Jaungi, is a 2017 Pakistani romantic comedy film directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. It stars Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat alongside Sohail Ahmed, Saba Hameed and Urwa Hocane in povital roles. The story is about a love triangle, between the lead characters, and the film also exhibits the Punjabi culture of Pakistan. A spin-off to the film titled, London Nahi Jaunga released to mixed reviews.

Zara Noor Abbas, also known by her married name Zara Noor Abbas Siddiqui, is a Pakistani actress. She is best known for her role as Arsala in Momina Duraid's Khamoshi (2017), and has also acted in serials Dharkan (2016), Lamhay (2018), Qaid (2018), Deewar-e-Shab (2019), Ehd-e-Wafa (2019), Phaans (2021) and Badshah Begum (2022). She made her film debut with Wajahat Rauf's Chhalawa (2019) and later appeared in Asim Raza's Parey Hut Luv in the same year.

Wajahat Rauf is an award winning Pakistani film director, actor, screenwriter, producer and musician. He has directed and produced commercially successful films, including Karachi Se Lahore (2015), Lahore Se Aagey (2016), Chhalawa (2019) and Parde Mein Rehne Do (2022). He is the host and creator of a highly popular youtube show Voice Over Man.

Noor Ul Hassan is a Pakistani actor, television presenter, television host and compere. He hosted the Ramadan transmission in 2011 and in 2014 for PTV Home. He appeared in acclaimed television serials such as Ishq Jalebi, Dar Si Jaati Hai Sila, Aangan, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi and Cheekh.
