Karel Hirman (born 1 June 1970) is a Slovak engineer,manager and politician. Since September 2022 he has served as the Economy minister of Slovakia.
Hirman studied oil and gas extraction and transport at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and mining at the Technical University of Košice. [1]
After graduation,Hirman worked as a journalist for the Czech Press Agency as well the Slovak Economic weekly Trend,covering the Commonwealth of Independent States and energy topics. [2]
Since 2005,Herman managed several energy companies in Slovakia,including Košice public heating provider TepláreňKošice,state-owned oil transportation company TRANSPETROL as well as nickel distributor ENERGY-METAL. [3]
Herman was in charge of implementation of a large-scale energy consumption optimization project funded by the European Investment Bank in the Prešov region. Between 2007 and 2014 he headed the energy department of the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency. He is also a regular contributor to the outputs of the think tank Slovak Foreign Policy Association. Hirman served as an advisor to multiple politician,including the Foreign Affairs minister Miroslav Lajčák and the Prime Minister Iveta Radičová. He also advised the Christian Democratic Movement and the Progressive Slovakia parties on their energy policies. He also served in the team of Ivan Mikloš advising the Ukrainian prime minister Volodymyr Groysman. [4]
Following the abdication of Richard Sulík,Hirman was included in the government as a Minister of the Economy on 13 September 2022. [3]

The vertical-integrated company carries out a complete cycle of exploration operations and development of deposits,operating and exploratory drilling,extraction,transportation,and refinement of natural gas and crude oil,supply of natural and liquefied gas to consumers.

Russia has signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement. Numerous scholars posit that Russia uses its energy exports as a foreign policy instrument towards other countries.
Norway is a large energy producer,and one of the world's largest exporters of oil. Most of the electricity in the country is produced by hydroelectricity. Norway is one of the leading countries in the electrification of its transport sector,with the largest fleet of electric vehicles per capita in the world.
The fossil fuels lobby includes paid representatives of corporations involved in the fossil fuel industry,as well as related industries like chemicals,plastics,aviation and other transportation. Because of their wealth and the importance of energy,transport and chemical industries to local,national and international economies,these lobbies have the capacity and money to attempt to have outsized influence on governmental policy. In particular,the lobbies have been known to obstruct policy related to environmental protection,environmental health and climate action.

Unlike Slovakia's neighbour and close ally Czech Republic,which has a negative view of Russia due to past events,Slovakia tends to have better relations with Russia.
Russia supplies a significant volume of fossil fuels to other European countries. In 2021,it was the largest exporter of oil and natural gas to the European Union,(90%) and 40% of gas consumed in the EU came from Russia.

International sanctions have been imposed against Russia and Crimea during the Russo-Ukrainian War by a large number of countries,including the United States,Canada,the European Union,and international organisations following the Russian annexation of Crimea,which began in late February 2014. Belarus has also been sanctioned for its cooperation with and assistance to Russian armed forces. The sanctions were imposed against individuals,businesses,and officials from Russia and Ukraine. Russia responded with sanctions against several countries,including a total ban on food imports from Australia,Canada,Norway,Japan,the United States,the EU and the United Kingdom.

Amos J. Hochstein is an American businessman,diplomat,and former lobbyist. He is a top national and economic security official in the Biden administration. Hochstein has worked in the U.S. Congress,has testified before congressional panels and has served in the Barack Obama administration under Secretaries of State Clinton and Kerry. He was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in 2011 and as Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs in 2013. In 2015,President Barack Obama nominated Hochstein to be the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources but the Senate did not act on the nomination.
Robert Habeck is a German politician and writer who has been serving as Vice Chancellor of Germany,Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in the cabinet of Chancellor Olaf Scholz and as a Member of the German Bundestag for Flensburg –Schleswig since 2021. From 2018 to 2022,he also served as co-leader of Alliance 90/The Greens,alongside Annalena Baerbock. Some Russian banks were banned from using the SWIFT international payments system. The sanctions and the boycotts of Russia and Belarus have impacted the Russian economy in various ways. However,sanctions and rising unemployment have contribute to Russian authorities as strategic advantages to boost localization and state conscription,increasing geopolitical fragmentation between third world and western nations enables Russia to exploit global trade networks to secure essential goods.
