Kari Buen

Kari Buen (born 23 January 1938 at Kongsberg) is a Norwegian sculptor.

Buen belongs to the artist family Buen from Jondalen, and is the daughter of the fiddler Anders A. Buen and the traditional musician Margit Buen. She is the sister of the musicians Hauk Buen, Knut Buen and Agnes Buen Garnås. She is particularly known for her work with reliefs, sculptures, wood carving work and drawings. [1]

Buen studied at the Art School in Trondheim under Karl Johan Flåthen 1958-1960, at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo under Per Palle Storm and Roar Wold 1963-66 and 1973–74, and at Rauland Academy under Knut Skinnarland 1978 to 1979. Buen debuted at the Autumn Exhibition in Oslo in 1960. [2]

Kari Simonsen Norwegian actress (born 1937)

Kari Simonsen is a Norwegian actress. She made her professional stage debut at Folketeatret in 1959. She was appointed at Oslo Nye Teater from 1960 to 1972, and at Nationaltheatret from 1974. She has also played for radio and television, and had guest appearances at the revue stages Chat Noir and Edderkoppen. Simonsen is the mother of philosopher Herman Cappelen.

Knut Buen is a Norwegian fiddler, composer, folklorist and publisher. He was born in Kongsberg; the son of folk musician Anders Buen and Margit Tjønn, and is brother of Hauk Buen, Agnes Buen Garnås and the artist Kari Buen. He won the national music contest Landskappleiken in 1983 and 1986, and is known for his collection of traditional songs and melodies. He received Spellemannprisen in 1992 for the album Fykerud'n, and in 1994 for the album Bjølleslåtten. He has been running the publishing company Buen kulturverkstad and the record company Nyrenning. He was decorated Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1999.
