Kariandus is a settlement in Nakuru County, Kenya. It is located 17.5 miles from Nakuru town and 7.5 miles from Gilgil town. Human presence in the area dates back to the stone age. The present inhabitants of Kariandusi settled in the area in early 1980s in the former Lord Egerton cole and Lord Delamere ranches. The area has a well established tourism industry, with Kariandusi prehistoric site, Lake Elementaita, Several Hot Springs and booming hospitality industry providing the economic growth for the area.

The Lower Paleolithic is the earliest subdivision of the Paleolithic or Old Stone Age. It spans the time from around 3.3 million years ago when the first evidence for stone tool production and use by hominins appears in the current archaeological record, until around 300,000 years ago, spanning the Oldowan and Acheulean lithics industries.

Kariandusi is synonymous with the name used by the Maasai to refer to white paint traditionally used by Moran to paint their shields.

Nyahururu is a town in Kenya, lying north east of Nakuru. The town derives its name from the Maasai word e-naiwurruwurr, meaning meaning waterfall and/or windy or place of storms. It is located in Laikipia County. Despite this, Nyahururu formerly functioned as the administrative capital of Nyandarua County, before it became a county, until the headquarters was shifted to Ol Kalou. There have been calls for a reversal. The town has an urban population of 36,450. The town still remains to be a central economic power of the immediate former district of Nyandarua. Njoro is an agricultural town 18 km west south west of Nakuru, Kenya situated on the western rim of the Rift Valley. Njoro town was the headquarters of the former Njoro District, hived off Nakuru District. Since 2010, when Njoro District was eliminated, it has been part of the Nakuru County.

Gilgil, Kenya, is a town in Nakuru County, Kenya. The town is located between Naivasha and Nakuru and along the Nairobi - Nakuru highway. It is to the west of the Gilgil River, which flows south to feed Lake Naivasha.

Nakuru Airport is an airport serving the border town of Nakuru and surrounding communities, in Nakuru County, Kenya. Its location is approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi), by air, northwest of Nairobi International Airport, the country’s largest civilian airport. It is also the best way to get to mount Kenya by helicopter.

The Turasha River is a major tributary of the Malewa River, which feeds Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya.

Kariandusi prehistoric site is an archaeological site in Kenya. Located on the southeastern edge of the Great Rift Valley and on Lake Elmenteita, Kariandusi is an African Early Stone Age site dating to approximately 1 million years ago.
