Karin Valborg Ek, born Lindblad (17 June 1885 in Stockholm [1] -1 October 1926 in Gothenburg), was a Swedish writer.

Biography

Ek was the daughter of the doctor Anders Lindblad and Florence Weaving [1] and grew up in Stockholm. She conducted seminars at Anna Sandström's Higher Teacher Seminarium in Stockholm together with Harriet Löwenhjelm and Elsa Björkman. After a short time as a subject teacher, she married the literature historian Sverker Ek in 1909. She had five children, including the actor Anders Ek and the publisher Birgitta Ek. Ek was buried at Östra kyrkogården in Gothenburg.

The wedding of Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and Daniel Westling took place on 19 June 2010 in Stockholm Cathedral. It had been described as "Europe's biggest royal wedding since the Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981". Westling thereby acquired Victoria's ducal title, becoming a Swedish prince and Duke of Västergötland. In time for the wedding, a joint monogram of their initials was created.

Wallinska skolan or Wallinska flickskolan, was a girls' school in Stockholm, Sweden. Active from 1831 to 1939, it was one of the first five schools in Sweden to offer serious academic education and secondary education to female students. In 1870, it became the first gymnasium for females in Sweden, and in 1874, it became the first girls' school that was permitted to administer the Studentexamen to female students.

Psychosis in Stockholm was screened at the Gothenburg Film Festival on 24 January 2020 and had its official premiere on 26 August that year.

Karin Parrow née Taube (1900–1984) was an Expressionist painter from Sweden who belonged to a group known as the Gothenburg Colourists. After attending an art school in Paris, in 1926 she studied under Tor Bjurström at the Valand Art School in Gothenburg. A frequent exhibitor during her lifetime, her works are now in the collections of Nationalmuseet, Stockholm's Moderna Museet and the Gothenburg Museum of Art.

The Girl and the Devil is a 1944 Swedish mystery thriller film directed by Hampe Faustman and starring Kolbjörn Knudsen, Gunn Wållgren and Stig Järrel. It was shot at the Centrumateljéerna Studios in Stockholm with location shooting in Hälsingland. The film's sets were designed by the art director P.A. Lundgren.

<i>Unfriendly Relations</i> 1936 film

Unfriendly Relations is a 1936 Swedish comedy film directed by Anders Henrikson and starring Håkan Westergren, Karin Swanström and Gull-Maj Norin. It was shot at the Råsunda Studios in Stockholm. The film's sets were designed by the art director Arne Åkermark. It was based on the play Aunt Jutta from Calcutta by Max Reimann and Otto Schwartz, later adapted into a 1953 German film of the same title, directed by Karl Georg Külb.
