Karki (clan)

Karki also known as Kharku is a Rajput clan from the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. [1] [2]

History

The Karki Rajputs have descended from the junior members of the Katyuri House and have also had some influence in former times. One of them, Sukhram Karki held power in the early part of the seventeenth century during the reign of Raja Vijay Chand. [3] The Karki Rajputs administered Palbelon Patti with Karkyuda Bunga as their fort and provided military commanders to the Kingdom of Kumaon. [4] [5]
