Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, also known as KRRS, is a farmer's movement. M. D. Nanjundaswamy was the president of the organisation. [1]

Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha's state president is Chamarasa Mali Patil. He is based in Raichur District, present Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha State President Mallappanahalli Girish Gowda M T. He is based in Ramanagar district. [2] [3]

When the United Front, a coalition of regional parties, formed the central government with the support of the Congress, Deve Gowda was unexpectedly chosen to head the government and was elected Prime Minister. During his tenure as prime minister, he also served as Home Minister for some time. His prime ministerial tenure lasted for less than a year. After his prime ministerial tenure, he was elected to the 12th (1998), 14th (2004), 15th, and 16th Lok Sabha, as Member of Parliament for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. He lost Lok Sabha elections in 2019 from Tumkuru but has been elected to Rajya Sabha since.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) is a farmer's representative organisation in India. It was founded by Chaudhary Charan Singh from the Punjab Khetibari Union which became its Punjab branch. The union is affiliated to the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee and Via Campesina. The national headquarters of the union is located in Sisauli, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.

All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee is a pan-Indian umbrella organisation comprising 250 various farmers' organisations. The committee was formed with the integration of 130 farmers' organisation after the death of six farmers in alleged police firing in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh in June 2017.

Maruti Manpade (1956-2020) was a Communist leader in India who campaigned on a wide variety of causes such as farmers’ issues, implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations, Devadasi women rights and Dalit rights. He was a successful organizer who led agitations against privatization of electricity, the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and National Register of Citizens, land theft, and exploitation of workers. He was a member of the State Secretariat of Karnataka of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was also a member of the executive committee of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), the farmers’ union affiliated to CPI(M). He contested in Lok Sabha and Karnataka Assembly elections for a combined total of four times and managed to get a significant share of the votes each time. He also contested in local self-government elections twice and was elected to the District Panchayat in 1986.
