Karun Arvand Khorramshahr Football Club is an Iranian professional football club based in Khorramshahr, Iran. They currently compete in the Iranian League 2. [1]
Karun Khuzestan Football Club was founded in Ahvaz in 2012. In 2016, the club's rights were sold and the team was now called Karun Arvand Khorramshahr Football Club, and was based in Khorramshahr and competed in the Iranian League 2. Arvand Free Zone became the club's main sponsor.

Abadan is a city and capital of Abadan County, Khuzestan Province, which is located in the southwest of Iran. It lies on Abadan Island. The island is bounded in the west by the Arvand waterway and to the east by the Bahmanshir outlet of the Karun River, 53 kilometres (33 mi) from the Persian Gulf, near the Iran–Iraq border. Abadan is 140 km from the provincial capital city of Ahvaz.
The Shatt al-Arab, sometimes called the Arvand Rud, is a river of some 200 kilometres (120 mi) in length that is formed at the confluence of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers in the town of al-Qurnah in the Basra Governorate of southern Iraq. The southern end of the river constitutes the Iran–Iraq border down to its mouth, where it discharges into the Persian Gulf. The Shatt al-Arab varies in width from about 232 metres (761 ft) at Basra to 800 metres (2,600 ft) at its mouth. It is thought that the waterway formed relatively recently in geological time, with the Tigris and Euphrates originally emptying into the Persian Gulf via a channel further to the west. Kuwait's Bubiyan Island is part of the Shatt al-Arab delta.
Khuzestan Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the southwest of the country, bordering Iraq and the Persian Gulf. Its capital is Ahvaz and it covers an area of 63,238 square kilometres (24,416 sq mi). Since 2014, it has been part of Iran's Region 4.

The Karun is the Iranian river with the highest water flow, and its only navigable river. It is 950 km (590 mi) long. It rises in the Zard Kuh mountains of the Bakhtiari district in the Zagros Range, receiving many tributaries, such as the Dez and the Kuhrang, before passing through the capital of the Khuzestan Province of Iran, the city of Ahvaz before emptying to its mouth into Arvand Rud.
The Arvand Free Zone with an area of 37,400 hectares is at the confluence of the Karun and Arvand rivers. The Zone is located at a height of three meters above sea level and in proximity to Iraq and in the north west of Persian Gulf.
The battle of Khorramshahr, also known in Iran as the liberation of Khorramshahr was the Iranian recapture of the city of Khorramshahr on 24 May 1982, during the Iran–Iraq War. The city had been captured by the Iraqis earlier in the war, on 26 October 1980, shortly after the Iraqi invasion of Iran. The successful retaking of the city was part of Iran's Operation Beit ol-Moqaddas. It is perceived as a turning point in the war; and the liberation of the city is annually celebrated in Iran on 24 May.

During the early Islamic centuries, the Daylamite Buwayhid king, Panah Khusraw Adud ad-Dawlah, ordered the digging of a canal to join the Karun River, which at the time emptied independently into the Persian Gulf through the Bahmanshir channel, to the Shatt al-Arab waterway, the joint estuary of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The extra water from the Karun, which, at times during the spring melt, discharged over 27 times the volume of the Tigris-Euphrates water that reaches the Shatt al-Arab) makes the joint estuary more reliably navigable.
The Bahmanshir channel is a secondary estuary of the Karun River that parallels the Shatt al-Arab/Arvand Rud waterway on the far side of the Abadan Island, Iran, for 70 miles before emptying into the Persian Gulf.
Football Club Kheybar Khorramabad, commonly known as FC Kheybar, is an Iranian football club based in Khorramabad, Lorestan, that competes in the Azadegan League.
The 2014–15 Hazfi Cup was the 28th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Tractor Sazi was the defending champion but was eliminated by Padideh in quarter-finals. The competition started on 1 September 2014 and ended on 1 June 2015. Zob Ahan won their third title after defeating Naft Tehran in the final.
The 2016–17 Hazfi Cup was the 30th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Zob Ahan Isfahan, the defending champions, were eliminated by Tractor Sazi in the semi final in extra time. The competition started on 12 September 2016, and the final was played on 11 May 2017. Naft Tehran defeated Tractor Sazi at the final and earned their first title.
2017–18 Iran Football's 2nd Division is the 17th under 2nd Division since its establishment in 2001. The season featured 25 teams from the 2nd Division 2016–17, three new teams relegated from the 2016–17 Azadegan League: Kheibar Khoramabad, Foolad Yazd, Esteghlal Ahvaz, and five new teams promoted from the 3rd Division 2016–17: Shahrdari Bam, Mes Novin Kerman, Perspolis Mashhad, Khoushe Talaye Sana, Shohadaye Babolsar.
The 2018–19 Azadegan League was the 28th season of the Azadegan League and 18th as the second highest division since its establishment in 1991. The season featured 12 teams from the 2017–18 Azadegan League, two new teams relegated from the 2017–18 Persian Gulf Pro League: Siah Jamegan and Naft Tehran and two new teams promoted from the 2017–18 League 2: Karoon Arvand Khorramshahr and Shahin Bushehr both as champions. Navad Urmia replaced Gostaresh Foulad, while Sorkhpooshan Pakdasht replaced Esteghlal Jonoub. Oxin Alborz changed their name into Gol Reyhan. The league started on 10 August 2018 and ended on 30 April 2019. Gol Gohar won the Azadegan League title for the first time in their history. Gol Gohar and Shahin Bushehr promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League.
The 2020–21 Azadegan League was the 30th season of the Azadegan League and 20th as the second highest division since its establishment in 1991. The season started in 2 November 2020 with 13 teams from the 2019–20 Azadegan League, two new teams relegated from the 2019–20 Persian Gulf Pro League: Pars Jonoubi Jam and Shahin Bushehr and three new teams promoted from the 2019–20 League 2: Chooka Talesh, Esteghlal Mollasani and Shahrdari Astara as champion, runner-up and third placed team respectively. Karoon Arvand Khorramshahr's 1st Division licence were taken back from Damash and then again sold to Kheybar Khorramabad. The league started on 22 November 2020 and ended on 19 July 2021. Fajr Sepasi Shiraz won the Azadegan League title for the first time in their history and was promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League after an absence of eight years together with second-ranked Havadar Tehran.
