Kashaf Alvi is Pakistani deaf writer and activist who advocates for the deaf community.

Career

In December 2021, Alvi's book The Language of Paradise was published by Liberty Books, and the book was launched at the President House, Islamabad by the First Lady of Pakistan, Samina Alvi. [1] [2] The book was reviewed by Dawn and The Nation . [3] [4] Previously, in the same year, he became the first person with a disability in Pakistan to receive certification as a Microsoft Associate. [1] [5]

In 2022, Alvi was named as the Pride of Pakistan by ISPR. [5] [6]

In January 2023, Alvi was selected as a Global Shaper, an initiative of the World Economic Forum. [7] Two months later, he was appointed as the ambassador of the Pakistan Health Parliament. [8] [9]

The author of the 2023 comic book, Adventures of the Trail Master, features a character named Tray. [10] The author, Haider, met Alvi while working on the illustration part of his book. [10] The Language of Paradise, which chronicles Alvi's experiences living in a world of sounds he cannot hear, mirrors Tray's character, who is also deaf and mute, and communicates using sign language. [10]

In 2024, Alvi wrote and starred in the film A Walk with God. The film explores themes of identity, faith, and individual life journeys. [11]

Zindagi Gulzar Hai is a Pakistani television series directed by Sultana Siddiqui, produced by Momina Duraid under the banner Moomal Productions, which was first broadcast on Hum TV. Based on the novel of the same name by Umera Ahmad, who also wrote the screenplay, it originally aired from November 30,2012, to May 24, 2013, in Pakistan. The story revolves around two people, opposite in thoughts and financial status, and has a strong female protagonist, contributing to its popularity amongst women.

Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui is a Pakistani actor, film producer, director, screenwriter and television host. He made his film debut as a lead actor and producer in 2016 with Ho Mann Jahaan. He is notable for his role in Asim Raza's Parey Hut Love, which became Pakistan's highest-grossing movie 2019. He has starred in male-centric serials such as Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay, Kahi Un Kahi, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Aasmanon Pay Likha and Meray Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley. For his performances in Ho Mann Jahaan, Saat Din Mohabbat In, and Parey Hut Love, he has won a Lux Style Award (2017); a Masala Award (2019); and a Pakistan International Screen Award (2020), respectively.

Samina Khayal Baig is a Pakistani mountaineer who climbed Mount Everest in 2013, all Seven Summits by 2014, and K2 in 2022. She is the first Pakistani woman to climb Everest, K2 and the Seven Summits. She climbed Mt. Everest at the age of 21.

Lettergate is an American-Pakistani political affair set off by a conversation at a farewell lunch for Asad Majeed Khan, the then-Pakistani ambassador to the United States, which took place on 7 March 2022 at Khan's official residence, also known as Pakistan House. A diplomatic telegram sent by Ambassador Khan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was based on the notes taken by the note-taker, who was from the embassy of Pakistan based in Washington, D.C. The telegram allegedly stated that in the course of the meeting the United States had expressed a desire to the government of Pakistan for prime minister Imran Khan to be removed from office because of his refusal to abandon his neutral stance on the war between Russia and Ukraine and back the Ukrainians, with a promise of warmer relations if his removal occurred, and threatening isolation if it did not. The lunch was attended by US officials including then US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Deputy Assistant Secretary Lesslie Viguerie. The Pakistani diplomats attending the lunch meeting included Deputy Chief of Mission Syed Naveed Bokhari and the defence attaché.
