Gamma Ray is a German power metal band from Hamburg, founded and fronted by Kai Hansen after his departure from power metal band Helloween, in 1989. He is the band's lead vocalist, guitarist and chief songwriter. Between 1990 and 2014, Gamma Ray recorded eleven studio albums.

The band's original drummer Sami Hänninen left the band in 2017 because of the changing circumstances in his life, as well as issues related to the nerves in his left hand.
Dark Connection is the third studio album by Finnish power metal band Beast In Black, released on 29 October 2021. Similar to their debut album Berserker, several songs reference well known science fiction series like Blade Runner with several songs containing direct references to the anime Armitage III. The album charted well, ranking number one in their home country, and did well in Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. Four videos were produced for the tracks "Moonlight Rendezvous", "Hardcore", "One Night in Tokyo" and "Blade Runner". The album was dedicated to Kentaro Miura, the author of Berserk after his death earlier that year.

The original lineup included lead vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos, bassist Mate Molnar, guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen, and drummer Sami Hänninen. The band started playing locally in Finland while recording their debut album at the same time. The record caught the attention of Nuclear Blast Records, who later signed Beast In Black. The band released Berserker in 2017, which was Beast In Black's first album to be certified gold by the IFPI Finland. While promoting the album, Hänninen left the band and Atte Palokangas was hired as a replacement. In 2019, they released From Hell with Love, followed by Dark Connection in October 2021. In 2024, Beast In Black released a standalone single, "Power Of The Beast".
