Kate Walsh (born 17 June 1981) [1] is an English business executive and former television personality. Walsh come to public attention in March 2009 whilst appearing as a candidate in the fifth series of The Apprentice . [2] [3] She subsequently co-hosted the Channel 5 evening entertainment show Live from Studio Five from to 2009 until 2011 and also its replacement show OK! TV during 2011. [4]

In 2024, Walsh was appointed as Chief Retail Officer for BoConcept in Denmark.

Early life

Walsh grew up in Staffordshire and attended Blake Valley Technology College. She graduated with a BSc degree in Psychology and Management from Aston University, Birmingham. [2] [5]

The Apprentice

In 2009, Walsh took part in Series 5 of The Apprentice where she competed for a job working for Alan Sugar. She finished as runner-up to Yasmina Siadatan. [3]

TV presenting career

After her stint on The Apprentice, Walsh hosted a women's fashion segment on GMTV , appearing for a number of episodes. [6]

In September 2009, Walsh joined Channel 5 to present Live from Studio Five . [7] She presented the show alongside various co-presenters until its cancellation in February 2011. [8] Walsh was the only presenter from the original line-up to remain with the programme from its launch. [8] Walsh co-present the entertainment show, OK! TV from 14 February 2011 to August 2011. [9]

Business career

Before appearing on The Apprentice Walsh had worked in business including as a Licensing Development Manager for a coffee company. [10]

After the TV presenting career, Walsh returned to working in the retail industry. She worked for around ten years at Pandora in a variety of roles ultimately as Senior Vice President Omnichannel Retail. [11] In April 2024, Walsh was appointed as Chief Retail Officer for BoConcept. [12]

He rose to fame after winning the second series of reality series Big Brother, and went on to win Ultimate Big Brother in 2010. In 2007, he came third in Hell's Kitchen and in 2008, he was runner-up in the Irish reality television series Fáilte Towers. Dowling then guest-presented Live from Studio Five alongside Kate Walsh from 2010 until its cancellation in February 2011.

<i>The Apprentice</i> (British TV series) series 5 Fifth season of UK television series

The fifth series of British reality television series The Apprentice (UK) was broadcast in the UK on BBC One, from 25 March to 7 June 2009; because of ITV's live coverage of a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification match involving England, the final episode was broadcast three days earlier to avoid clashing with this. It is the last series to feature Margaret Mountford as one of Alan Sugar's aides, after deciding to leave following the conclusion of the fifth series to focus on her education, although she would retain a place in the programme until the end of the ninth series. Alongside the standard twelve episodes, two specials were aired alongside this series – "The Final Five" on 3 June; and "Why I Fired Them" on 5 June.

Live from Studio Five was an early-evening British magazine programme produced by Sky News for Channel 5. It was presented by Kate Walsh and a lineup of co-presenters. It featured interviews and discussions on topical issues, emphasizing show-business news and celebrity gossip after originally covering stories from a popular news agenda. It aired its final edition on 4 February 2011 and was replaced by OK! TV in February 2011.

OK! TV was an early evening magazine programme which was broadcast on Channel 5 between 14 February 2011 and 16 December 2011. It was a brand extension of celebrity title OK! Magazine. It replaced the former magazine and discussion show Live from Studio Five on 1 February 2011, and was presented by Kate Walsh and Matt Johnson, both of whom later left the programme. Jeff Brazier and Jenny Frost replaced Walsh and Johnson in August 2011 and presented the show until its cancellation.
