Katherin Nuevo Segura (born 24 October 2002) is a Cuban sprint canoeist.
She qualified at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the C-1 200 meters, and C-2 500 meters. [1]
She competed at the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships. [2] [3] and at the 2021 Canoe Sprint World Cup. [4] [5] [6] At the 2021 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, Nuevo and her partner Yarisleidis Cirilo won gold medals in the women’s C-2 200m event. [7]
In 2022, Nuevo competed at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Halifax, Canada, where she and her partner, Yarisleidis Cirilo, qualified for the C2-500 A final after winning their heat, [8] but ultimately came last in the final.
Canoe slalom is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom. A sprint canoe is a canoe used in International Canoe Federation canoe sprint. It is an open boat propelled by one, two or four paddlers from a kneeling position, using single-bladed paddles. The difficulty of balance can depend on how wide or narrow the canoe is, although regularly the less contact a canoe has with the water the faster it goes. This makes the narrower boats much faster and popular when it comes to racing.
