Katrine Winkel Holm (born 21 March 1970) is a Danish theologian, priest and author. She co-founded the Danish Free Press Society in 2004, of which she became deputy chairman, and later chairman in the late 2010s. [1] She has been a member of the board of Danish state broadcaster DR since 2006. [2]

Biography

Winkel Holm grew up in Seem, and is a daughter of priest and politician Søren Krarup and historian Elisabeth Krarup. [3] She received a cand.theol. (Master of Theology) from the University of Copenhagen in 1997, and is along with her father connected to the theological movement Tidehverv, [3] and a member of the Danish People's Party. [4]

She co-founded the Danish Free Press Society with Lars Hedegaard in 2004, and the Islam-Critical Network in 2006 following the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy, [1] [2] both described as counter-jihad organisations. [5] [6] The latter was a network of priests in the Church of Denmark which stated that Christians and Muslims do not believe in the same God. [7] She was also the editor of the online magazine Sappho.dk. [8] She has regularly written for Document.no, where she has praised counter-jihad blogger Fjordman. [8] She has also blogged for Jyllands-Posten , and written numerous newspaper debate articles. [1]

She became parish priest in Borup in 2015, [1] [3] and in 2023 in Slagelse. [9] She is married and has three children. [3]

The 2020 Danish mink cull was the government-mandated slaughter of all roughly 17 million mink that were being raised on farms for their fur in Denmark. The cull started in September in response to the detection of Cluster 5, an outbreak of a novel variant of SARS-CoV-2, in the mink during the COVID-19 pandemic in Denmark. The cluster led to concerns that the potential of spillover to humans could reduce the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. The cull was made nation-wide on 4 November 2020; however, two days later the government announced that the extension of the cull orders had been given without legal authority, causing a political scandal, also known as the "Mink Case". Around 150,000 mink were culled without authority before the problem was identified.

Kirkerup is a village in Slagelse Municipality in the Zealand Region of Denmark. It has a population of approximately 600 people and is situated on the western part of the island of Zealand. The village is the main village in the church district (sogn) of Kirkerup Sogn where the manor house Gyldenholm is located. The village lies three km from the town of Sørbymagle and 10 km from the main town of the municipality, Slagelse. In 2023, the town was the crime scene of a child abduction.

For Frihed is a Danish organisation that supports free speech, and opposes what it sees as Islamisation and fundamentalist Islam in Denmark. The organisation was originally part of the Pegida movement, and is part of the broader counter-jihad movement.

Helle Merete Brix is a Danish author, journalist and literary critic. She has been noted as a critic of Islam since the late 1990s, and was formerly associated with the Danish Free Press Society as editor of its online magazine Sappho until 2010, and was later a part of the Lars Vilks Committee.

The Danish Free Press Society is a Danish non-partisan organisation founded in 2004 and originally led by Lars Hedegaard, that works in support of freedom of expression. It presents an annual award, the Sappho Award. The organisation has a publishing house, Trykkefrihedsselskabets Bibliotek, which focuses on research and criticism of Islam, and the organisation had about 800 members in 2010.

Morten Uhrskov Jensen is a Danish politician and leader of the national conservative party Danish Unity.
