Kavitha Telikepalli (born 1974) [1] is an Indian computer scientist known for her research on graph algorithms and combinatorial optimization, particularly concerning matchings, cycle bases, and graph spanners. She is a professor in the School of Technology & Computer Science at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. [2]

Education and career

Telikepalli graduated from IIT Madras in 1995, with a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering. She completed a PhD through the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 2002. [2]

After postdoctoral research with Kurt Mehlhorn at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany from 2002 to 2004, she returned to India as an assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 2005. She moved from the Indian Institute of Science to the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as a reader in 2010, became an associate professor in 2011, and was promoted to full professor in 2021. [2]

Recognition

Telikepalli was named an associate fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences in 2007. [1] She was one of the winners of the 2008 Indian National Science Academy Medal for Young Scientists. [3]

He founded the Machine Intelligence Unit in 1993, and the Center for Soft Computing Research: A National Facility in 2004, both at the ISI. He is the founder president of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Kolkata Chapter.

Professor Ramakrishna Vijayacharya Hosur is an Indian biophysical scientist, known for his expertise in the areas of nuclear magnetic resonance and molecular biophysics. The Government of India honoured him, in 2014, by awarding him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the fields of science and technology.

Rangaswamy Narasimhan was an Indian computer and cognitive scientist, regarded by many as the father of computer science research in India. He led the team which developed the TIFRAC, the first Indian indigenous computer and was instrumental in the establishment of CMC Limited in 1975, a Government of India company, later bought by Tata Consultancy Services. Deepak Dhar is an Indian theoretical physicist who is widely respected for his research on statistical physics and stochastic processes. Debdeep Mukhopadhyay is an Indian cryptographer and professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for Science and Technology, the highest science award in India, in 2021 for his contributions to micro-architectural security and cryptographic engineering. Debdeep Mukhopadhyay's research interests include Hardware security, Cryptographic Engineering, Design Automation of Cryptosystems, VLSI of Cryptosystems, and Cryptography. He has authored several textbooks, including Cryptography and network security, which has been cited 1227 times, according to Google Scholar. He was elevated to the Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineers in 2021.
