Ladysmith, originally Oyster Harbour, is a town located on the 49th parallel north on the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The local economy is based on forestry, tourism, and agriculture. A hillside location adjacent to a sheltered harbour forms the natural geography of the community.
Helen Shaver is a Canadian actress and film and television director. After appearing in a number of Canadian movies, she received a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actress for her performance in the romantic drama In Praise of Older Women (1978). Sonja Bennett is a Canadian actress and screenwriter. Her film debut was in the Canadian feature film Punch (2002), for which she won the Vancouver Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Canadian Film. She has since starred in the films Donovan's Echo, Cole, Control Alt Delete, Young People Fucking, and Fido as well as the television series Godiva's and Cold Squad. In 2014, Bennett made her screenwriting debut with Preggoland in which she also starred.
Sarah Lynn Gadon is a Canadian actress. She began her acting career guest-starring in a number of television series, such as Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1999), Mutant X (2002), and Dark Oracle (2004). She also worked as a voice actress on various television productions. Gadon gained recognition for her roles in David Cronenberg's films A Dangerous Method (2011), Cosmopolis (2012), and Maps to the Stars (2014). She also starred in Denis Villeneuve's thriller Enemy (2013), the period drama Belle (2013), and the action horror film Dracula Untold (2014).
Picnicface was a Canadian sketch comedy troupe based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, consisting of Mark Little, Andrew Bush, Kyle Dooley, Cheryl Hann, Brian MacQuarrie, Evany Rosen, Scott Vrooman and Bill Wood. Formed in 2006, the group were most noted for a 13-episode sketch comedy television series which aired on The Comedy Network in 2011.
She Stoops to Conquer is a 2015 Canadian short film directed by Zack Russell. It stars Kayla Lorette and Julian Richings, and had its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
The Second City Project is a Canadian television and web comedy series, which premiered in 2015. Created by The Second City, the series consisted of a number of shortform comedy videos which aired on the Global Television Network's online streaming platform, culminating in a half-hour television special which aired on the regular broadcast network in April 2015.

New Eden is a Canadian television mockumentary series, created by and starring Evany Rosen and Kayla Lorette. The series centres on Grace Lee (Rosen) and Katherine Wryfield (Lorette), the leaders of an all-female cult compound, through the narrative frame of a fictional true crime documentary series profiling the cult's descent into chaos and murder. The first season was directed by Aleysa Young.
The 8thannualCanadian Screen Awards were originally scheduled to be held on March 29, 2020, to honour achievements in Canadian film, television, and digital media production in 2019. As in prior years, the awards in many of the technical and craft categories would have been presented in a series of advance Canadian Screen Week galas in the week before the main ceremony.
Space Riders: Division Earth is a Canadian science fiction comedy web series, which premiered in 2014 on CTV Television Network's web platform CTV Extend. The series stars Mark Little and Dan Beirne as Ken and Phillip, two slackers who unexpectedly become superheroes after the Earth is invaded by alien supervillain Orson Ooze. The series was generally labelled by critics as a parody of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
