Keegan Kuhn is an American documentary filmmaker, director, producer, and professional musician. [1] He is best known for co-directing the documentary films Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret and What the Health , along with Kip Andersen. [2]

Career and work

Kuhn is the owner of First Spark Media, a digital film production company, which focuses on creating films surrounding social justice issues [3] for companies and non-profits. [4] He also started First Spark Gear, a camera accessory company. [5] In 2018, it was announced that he would be a partner for a project entitled "Fertile Ground: Inspiring Dialogue About Food Access" that received a Bloomberg Philanthropies grant to use art as a medium to help local communities and inform nutrition policy in Jackson, Mississippi. [6]

His work on films have taken him to extreme locations, from the Alaskan wilderness to the American West, where he filmed the remaining wild horses in the United States. [7] In addition to topics like environmental destruction and animal rescue, his work has involved subjects like gender inequality, Buddhism, and endurance sports. [5]

Kuhn is the creator of educational music project True Nature. [5]

Personal life

Kuhn currently resides in the East Bay region of San Francisco with his wife Shani Campbell, a Certified Cat Behaviorist. [8] For most of his life he has been working with nonprofit organizations and assisting in social justice movements. [7] He has been vegan for decades. [9] He spends his day biking and kayaking as much as possible.

Kuhn is currently producing a documentary entitled The End of Medicine, which is directed by Alex Lockwood. [15] Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are involved in the project. [16]

Dominion is a 2018 Australian documentary film. The documentary was primarily filmed with hidden cameras and drones inside Australian farms and abattoirs. According to the New York Times, Dominion "claims to expose the routine and inhumane practices of animal agriculture in Australia". The film portrays the killing of livestock through methods such as using carbon dioxide to gas pigs, maceration of chicks, and skinning foxes alive. The film uses shock tactics with footage in multiple industries in Australia, especially agricultural livestock while focusing its message on animal rights.

The thirty-fifth series of the British medical drama television series Casualty began airing on BBC One in the United Kingdom on 2 January 2021. The series consists of 30 episodes, which focus on the professional and personal lives of medical and ancillary staff at the emergency department (ED) of the fictional Holby City Hospital. Loretta Preece continues her role as series producer. Sixteen regular cast members reprised their roles from the previous series and actor Michael Stevenson returned to the serial in episode fourteen as Iain Dean, a paramedic.

They're Trying To Kill Us is a 2021 American documentary film co-directed and produced by John Lewis and Keegan Kuhn. The film was executive produced by NBA All-star Chris Paul and Billie Eilish. Its story explores racial inequality within the food system and how it directly correlates to the rate at which people of color suffer from disproportionately higher rates of chronic disease. It was released on November 11, 2021.
