Aloysius Cornelis (Kees) Smout (30 April 1876 in Bergen op Zoom - 24 August 1961 in Breda) was a Dutch sculptor.
Smout attended the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. He was a student of Ludwig Jünger, Bart van Hove and Ferdinand Leenhoff. In 1901 he won the second prize in the Dutch Prix de Rome in the category sculpture, three years later he was awarded the first prize. He was a member of the Arti et Amicitiae artist association in Amsterdam.

From July 2012 until his inauguration as minister in January 2022, he had been the director and Leon Levy professor at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, and a tenured professor at the University of Amsterdam.

Adriaen van de Velde, was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and print artist. His favorite subjects were landscapes with animals and genre scenes. He also painted beaches, dunes, forests, winter scenes, portraits in landscapes, as well as mythological and biblical scenes. He belongs to a group of painters referred to as the Dutch Italianate painters, who combined Dutch agricultural landscapes with mythological or Arcadian scenes in Italian settings. His paintings are characterised by their delicate, careful composition and his mastery of lighting effects as well as the human figure.
Arnon Yasha Yves Grunberg is a Dutch writer of novels, essays, and columns, as well as a journalist. He published some of his work under the heteronym Marek van der Jagt. He lives in New York.
Cees Nooteboom is a Dutch novelist, poet and journalist. After the attention received by his novel Rituelen, which received the Pegasus Prize, it was the first of his novels to be translated into an English edition, published in 1983 by Louisiana State University Press of the United States. LSU Press published his first two novels in English in the following years, as well as other works through 1990. Harcourt and Grove Press have since published some of his works in English.

The Dutch Prix de Rome is based on the originally French Prix de Rome and is awarded annually to architects and artists younger than 35. The award was initiated in 1807 by Louis Bonaparte, then ruler of the Kingdom of Holland, and confirmed after independence by William I of the Netherlands. It was canceled in 1851 by the statesman Johan Rudolph Thorbecke and reinstated in 1870 by William III of the Netherlands. Since then the winners are selected by the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.

Dominicus Smout or Dominicus Smouts was a Flemish painter of genre scenes who was active in Antwerp between 1683 and 1733.
Jan Derk Huibers was a Dutch painter, graphic artist and art teacher. He painted a wide variety of subjects, but is best known for his genre scenes. Some sources incorrectly give his year of death as 1919.
