Keith M. Landy (ca. 1950-2017) [2] was a Canadian lawyer and former president of the Canadian Jewish Congress.
Landy was born in Coventry,England and moved with his family to South Africa,then immigrated to Canada [3] where he was educated at the University of Windsor's law school and is senior and founding partner in the Toronto law firm of Landy,Marr,Kats LLP. [4]
Landy was national president of the Canadian Jewish Congress from 2001 to 2004. He had previously been chair of the CJC,Ontario Region from 1998 to 2001 and held various other offices in the organization. He also served as a vice-president of the World Jewish Congress and a member of the Executive Committee of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims. In 2008,he served as chair of the CJC's War Crimes Committee. [4]
As Chair of CJC Ontario,Landy successfully lobbied for passage of the Holocaust Memorial Day –Yom Hashoah- Act by the Ontario Legislature. He has also served as a delegate to the United Nations' World Conference Against Racism,Racial Discrimination and Xenophobia in Durban,South Africa. In April 2004,he was a member of the official Canadian governmental delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) conference on antisemitism. [3]
Landy died in early 2017 at the age of 66. He has two children,Michelle and Josh,along with three grandchildren.
In 2002,Landy was a recipient of The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. In 2005,he received The Lincoln Alexander Award from the Law Society of Upper Canada honoring his commitment to the public and community service and to the people of Ontario for his work for human rights and religious tolerance. [4]

As of 2016,Statistics Canada listed 435,200 adherents to the Jewish religion in Canada and 309,650 who claimed Jewish as an ethnicity. One set can exclude some of the other and studies which have attempted to combine the two have arrived at figures in excess of 475,000 Jews in Canada. This total would account for approximately 1.4% of the Canadian population.

The Alliance of Concerned Jewish Canadians (ACJC) was formed in 2005 as a coalition of Canadian Jews who are critical of the policies of the Israeli government,particularly toward the Palestinians. The Ontario wing of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has supported the Boycott,Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel since 2006. In 2009 the CUPE Ontario university workers' committee proposed to extend the campaign to boycott any joint work with Israeli institutions that carry out military research. That resolution became the focus of extensive controversy and was modified in response to pressure from the CUPE national president;the amended version was brought before the CUPE Ontario conference in May 2009 and passed with a 2/3 majority.

Marc Gold is Canadian law professor and politician who has served as Representative of the Government in the Senate since 2020. Gold has sat as the senator for Stadacona,Quebec since he was appointed on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2016. He was a member of the Independent Senators Group (ISG) caucus from 2016 to 2020 but now sits as an Independent. Prior to his appointment as a senator,Gold taught law and was appointed associate dean at Osgoode Hall Law School.
