Kenneth Raymond Seeley (born October 25, 1962) is an interventionist and author. He is best known for his appearances on the A&E reality show, Intervention . Certified as a CIP, CCMI-M, RAS, CATC, Seeley himself has been sober since July 14, 1989. [1] Since then, he has worked full-time in the business of recovery.

Career

Seeley is the author of Face It and Fix It, [2] published by HarperOne in 2009.

Seeley has remained involved, professionally and personally, in recovery since 1989. In an early episode of Intervention he revealed he was once addicted to crystal meth. [3] He became sober on July 14, 1989. [4] He is a Certified Intervention Professional, Master's Level Case Manager / Interventionist, Registered Addiction Specialist, and Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor.

Seeley is a regular contributor to CNN, [5] MSNBC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and ABC on the topic of addiction. Seeley was one of three featured interventionists on the Emmy Award Winning Television Series Intervention on A&E.

In 2011, a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs, California, Walk of Stars was dedicated to him. [6]

<i>Intervention</i> (TV series) TV series

Intervention is an American series that premiered on March 6, 2005, on A&E. It follows one or two participants, who are dependent on or addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. They are documented in anticipation of an intervention meeting by family or friends. During the intervention meeting, loved ones give the addict an ultimatum: go to an inpatient drug rehabilitation program immediately, or else risk losing contact, income, or other privileges. The show follows up on the recovery progress for future episodes or for web shorts.

Palm Springs Walk of Stars

Sober companion, sober coach, sobriety coach or recovery coach are titles all representing the same job in the field of addiction, providing one-on-one assistance to newly recovering individuals. The goal is to help the client maintain total abstinence or harm reduction from any addiction, and to establish healthy routines at home or after checking out of a residential treatment facility. Regulations do not exist for sober companions. A sober companion may be a part of a whole medical and/or a clinical team of professional(s), may be formally licensed as a mental health professional, or have well-respected experiential experience in the field and may work independently on their own.

Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, later called simply Rehab with Dr. Drew, is a reality television show that aired on the cable network VH1 in which many of the episodes chronicle a group of well-known people as they are treated for alcohol and drug addiction by Dr. Drew Pinsky and his staff at the Pasadena Recovery Center in Pasadena, California. The first five seasons of the series, on which Pinsky also serves as executive producer, cast celebrities struggling with addiction, with the first season premiering on January 10, 2008, and the fifth airing in 2011.

LifeRing Secular Recovery Addiction and recovery organization

LifeRing Secular Recovery is a secular, non-profit organization providing peer-run addiction recovery groups. The organization provides support and assistance to people seeking to recover from alcohol and drug addiction, and also assists partners, family members and friends of addicts or alcoholics. It is an abstinence-based recovery program with three fundamental principles: sobriety, secularity and self-empowerment. The motto of LifeRing is "empower your sober self."

Secular Organizations for Sobriety (SOS), also known as Save Our Selves, is a non-profit network of autonomous addiction recovery groups. The program stresses the need to place the highest priority on sobriety and uses mutual support to assist members in achieving this goal. The Suggested Guidelines for Sobriety emphasize rational decision-making and are not religious or spiritual in nature. SOS represents an alternative to the spiritually based addiction recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Premiering on November 1, 2009, Sex Rehab was a spin-off of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, in which Pinsky treats celebrities for substance abuse.

Alexandra Katehakis is the Clinical Director of Center for Healthy Sex in Los Angeles and author of Erotic Intelligence: Igniting Hot, Healthy Sex While in Recovery from Sex Addiction,Sex Addiction as Affect Dysregulation: A Neurobiologically Informed Holistic Treatment,Sexual Reflections: A Workbook for Designing and Celebrating Your Sexual Health Plan, co-author of the award-winning daily meditation book, Mirror of Intimacy Daily Reflections on Emotional and Erotic Intelligence, and contributing author of the award-winning clinical text Making Advances: A Comprehensive Guide for Treating Female Sex and Love Addicts. Katehakis is a clinical supervisor at American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and clinical supervisor and member of the teaching faculty for the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) a national certifying body for sex addiction therapists. She is a regular contributor to Psychology Today and The Huffington Post, as well as a prominent expert panelist at sexuality conferences and public events.

Brad Lamm Interventionist and author

Brad Lamm is the founder of Breathe Life Healing Centers, an American interventionist, educator and author of many books, including How to Help the One You Love: A New Way to Intervene (2010). How to Help details the theory and practice of a system of psychosocial intervention he designed and named "Breakfree Intervention", which trains and utilizes "voices that matter" as an ongoing support group or "circle of change". Lamm is also the author of Just 10 Lbs (2011), a self-help book on the diet-obsessed public's "need to feed" and what he describes as “emotional eating” in the face of mounting evidence of the dangers of restrictive eating, fad diets and binge eating trends.

Recovery coaching is a form of strengths-based support for people with addictions or in recovery from alcohol, other drugs, codependency, or other addictive behaviors. They work with people who have active addictions, as well as those already in recovery. Recovery coaches are helpful for making decisions about what to do with one's life and the part addiction or recovery plays in it. They help clients find ways to stop addiction (abstinence), or reduce harm associated with addictive behaviors. These coaches can help a client find resources for harm reduction, detox, treatment, family support and education, local or online support groups; or help a client create a change plan to recover on their own.

Gone Too Far is a 2009 American reality television series, featuring Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, intervening to help people struggling with drug addiction. MTV debuted the show on October 12, less than two months after DJ AM—who had been sober for nine years before developing the show—relapsed and died from a drug overdose. Eight episodes were made in its single season.

Cliffside Malibu is a drug rehabilitation center in Malibu, California. It is notable for being frequently used by celebrities including Lindsay Lohan and Ty Lawson when they have been sentenced to rehabilitation. Kelly Stephenson has been the CEO of Cliffside Malibu since July 2018.

Leonard Lee Buschel is an American publisher, substance abuse counselor and author of HIGH: Confessions of a Cannabis Addict. He is the co-founder of Writers in Treatment, which supports recovery and the arts, and executive director of REEL Recovery Film Festival, focusing on stories of addiction and recovery.

Tim Ryan (recovery advocate)

Tim Ryan is an American activist, drug abuse interventionist, author and speaker. He is the Founder and Executive director of “A Man in Recovery” foundation. According to the National Safety Council, Ryan is notable for his position in favor of Drug policy reform and as a proponent of legislative change in American drug policy. His work was the subject of the A&E series “Dope Man” in July 2017. Ryan is also the author of the book “From Dope to Hope: A Man in Recovery” published in 2017.

Austin Eubanks American addiction recovery advocate and Columbine High School massacre survivor

Stephen Austin Eubanks was an American motivational speaker on addiction and recovery. He was a survivor of the Columbine High School massacre, in which his best friend, 17-year-old Corey DePooter, was killed and Eubanks was shot in his hand and knee. Eubanks struggled with opioid addiction after the shooting. Eubanks was the chief operations officer for the Foundry Treatment Center.
