In recent years, Kenwood has received national attention as the home of former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Kenwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Sonoma County, California, located on Sonoma Highway between the cities of Santa Rosa and Sonoma. It lies east of Sonoma Creek in the upper part of Sonoma Valley, a region sometimes called the Valley of the Moon. Bennett Mountain lies west of the town, and Sugarloaf Ridge to the northeast. The population was 1,028 at the 2010 census.

The Indian Hill Exempted Village School District is a public school district in Indian Hill, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is divided into four schools: Indian Hill High School, which is the ninth through twelfth grades; Middle School, which has sixth through eighth grades; Elementary School, which has third through fifth grades; and Primary School, which has Kindergarten, first, and second grades. The school district encompasses the suburbs of Kenwood, Camp Dennison, Indian Hill, and Madeira, and parts of Symmes and Sycamore townships. District-wide enrollment is approximately 1,900 students (2015). All schools in the district are rated "Excellent" by the Ohio Department of Education and the High School was named one of the top 100 in the country by both Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report magazines. Operated by the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) district, Kenwood opened in temporary quarters in 1966 and in its permanent building in 1969. Kenwood limits acceptance of high school students to those living in Hyde Park: from Lake Michigan to Cottage Grove Avenue east to west, and 47th to the Midway Plaisance north to south. Kenwood was recognized as a "School of Distinction" for its academic achievement and a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education in 2004.

Hyde Park–Kenwood Historic District is the name of the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) district on the South Side of Chicago that includes parts of the Hyde Park and Kenwood community areas of Chicago, Illinois. The northern part of this district overlaps with the officially designated Chicago Landmark Kenwood District. This northern part of the Hyde Park–Kenwood Historic District contains the Chicago home of Barack Obama. The entire district was added to the NRHP on February 14, 1979, and expanded on August 16, 1984, and May 16, 1986. The district is bounded to the north, south, east and west, respectively by 47th Street, 59th Street, Lake Park Avenue and Cottage Groves Avenue. Despite the large amount of property associated with the University of Chicago, the Hyde Park–Kenwood Historic District is mostly residential. The district is considered to be significant for its architecture and education.
