Kepler was a Canadian indie rock band which initially was known for its exceptionally slow and quiet sound.
Kepler was formed in 1997 by Samir Khan and Jon Georgekish-Watt in Ottawa. [1] The band initially included Jeremy Gara and Mike Sheridan, and over time a variety of guest musicians.
Kepler released a slowcore album, Fuck Fight Fail, was released in 2000. [1] 2002's Missionless Days included a more country flavour. [1]
The band toured across Canada, [2] the United States, and Europe, opening for Montreal's Godspeed You! Black Emperor in the United Kingdom and The Netherlands.
Sheridan left the band before the recording of the band's album, Attic Salt. [1] During the recording of the album, drummer, guitarist and keyboardist Jeremy Gara left to join Arcade Fire. Guest musicians Michael Feuerstack, Jordy Walker and Mike Dubue contributed to the album. [3]
To support Attic Salt, the new lineup of Khan, Georgekish-Watt, Feuerstak, Walker, and Dubue played a few shows around the release of the album. [3] Kepler disbanded in early 2006.
Attic Salt was released on vinyl for the first time by German label oscarson on May 6, 2014. [4] [5]

Joseph Donald Mascis Jr., better known as J Mascis, is an American musician who is the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for the alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. He has also released several albums as a solo artist and played drums and guitar on other projects. Meneguar was an indie rock band whose members had previously played under different arrangements and names, but which reached its current form in 2004 in Brooklyn, New York. The group released the albums I Was Born at Night and Strangers in Our House on the Troubleman Unlimited label. Hybrid Magazine positively reviewed Strangers in Our House, saying that, "Like a fucked up conglomeration of Modest Mouse and Q and Not U with a little The Flaming Lips thrown in for artistic sense, the band walks an interesting line that ebbs and flows across the album, moving with an energy that is addictively daunting and dauntingly addictive at the same time."
Born Ruffians are a Canadian indie rock band based in Toronto. Officially founded in 2004 in the Georgian Bay town of Midland, Ontario, the band is composed of frontman Luke Lalonde, bassist Mitch DeRosier, drummer Steve Hamelin, and keyboardist Maddy Wilde. During the 2010s, they were also joined by Andy Lloyd (guitar/keyboards) and Adam Hindle (drums).
