Kerry B. Harvey (born February 26,1957) is an American attorney who served as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 2010 to 2017. [1] [2] He was secretary of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet from 2021 to 2024.

Amul Roger Thapar is an American attorney and jurist serving as a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He previously served as a U.S. district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 2008 to 2017 and as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 2006 to 2008. Thapar was President Donald Trump's first Court of Appeals appointment and Trump's second judicial appointment after Justice Neil Gorsuch. Thapar was discussed as a candidate for the Supreme Court of the United States.

On March 10,2017,Jeff Sessions,who was appointed United States attorney general by President Donald Trump,requested the resignations of 46 United States attorneys. Some resignations were declined by Sessions or Trump. Media outlets described Sessions' move as abrupt and unexpected but not unprecedented. It is typical that when a new president enters office,many sitting U.S. attorneys depart on their own initiative before their term in office has concluded,or they are asked to resign. The other 47 U.S. attorney posts were either already vacant by the end of Barack Obama's administration or the incumbent U.S. attorney had resigned at the beginning of Trump's administration.

Daniel Jay Cameron is an American attorney and politician who served as the 51st attorney general of Kentucky from 2020 to 2024. A member of the Republican Party,Cameron was the first African American,and the first Republican since 1943,to be elected to the office. He was the Republican nominee in the 2023 Kentucky gubernatorial election,losing to incumbent Democrat Andy Beshear.
