Keswick Cricket Club is an English Cricket club based in the Lake District. Founded in the 1880s, its home games are played at Fitz Park, which in 2001 was voted 'The Loveliest Cricket Ground in England' by Wisden Cricket Monthly. [1]

Teams

The 1st team play in the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League, Premier Division. [2] The 2nd team play in the Eden Valley Cricket League, 3rd Division. Keswick Cricket Club have junior U11, U13, U15 teams and also a women's Cricket team.

Keswick employed their first professional cricketer, Jason Young, [3] in 2000. Trophies

Keswick Cricket Club won the Burton Cup in 1996, their first trophy. This success was followed by winning the Cumbria Cricket League in 1997. The club won the Higson Cup for the first time in 2006, the trophy then returned to the Fitz Park club in 2012. Most recently, Keswick lifted the county cup for the first time in 2013, defeating Furness in a tense final.

Lancashire Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground, although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county. Darren Ian Stevens is an English former professional cricketer who played for Leicestershire and Kent County Cricket Clubs between 1997 and 2022. An all-rounder, he played as right-handed batsman and bowled right-arm medium-pace deliveries. He scored over 16,000 first-class runs and after the age of 35 took more than 500 wickets and more than 30 five-wicket hauls. Stevens was named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in the 2021 edition of the almanack.

Colne Cricket Club is a cricket club who play in the Lancashire League, which plays its home games at The Horsfield in Colne. For the 2023 season, their club captain is Tom Bradshaw, their 2nd XI captain is Martin Kegg, their 3rd XI captain is Thomas Ellacott and their T20 captain is also Tom Bradshaw. Their professional is Geeth Kumara of Sri Lanka. The club has won the league on five occasions and won the cup six times, achieving a league and cup double in 1959. It has employed professionals including Amar Singh, Bill Alley, Joe Scuderi and Collis King.

Gareth Andrew White is an English cricketer who played one List A fixture for Cumberland County Cricket Club. He also played at minor counties level for Cumberland County Cricket Club and also represented Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Kent Second XIs.

The Cumbria Cricket League, formerly the North Lancashire and Cumbria League, is an independent club cricket league for teams in Northern Lancashire and Cumbria, England.

Netherfield Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Kendal, Cumbria. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1893. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match in 1956, when Cumberland played the Lancashire Second XI. From 1956 to 2007, the ground hosted 44 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match played to date at the ground in 2007 seeing Cumberland host Norfolk. The ground has also hosted 3 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the most recent of which saw Cumberland play Cheshire in 2010.

Fitz Park is a public park in Keswick, Cumbria. Landscaped in the Victorian period, the park contains shrubberies and specimen trees, and provides open space for recreation. There are sports grounds for tennis and bowls, and the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery is situated there.

Counties 1 Cumbria is a competitive rugby union league at level 7 of the English rugby union system run by the English Rugby Football Union (RFU) for club sides based in Cumbria. It was previously a tier 7 league but the creation of North 2 West demoted it to level 8. Promoted teams typically go up to North 2 West and since Cumbria 2 was cancelled at the end of the 2018–19 season there is no relegation. Each season a team from Cumbria 1 is picked to take part in the RFU Senior Vase - a national competition for clubs at level 8. The original Cumbria league was formed at the start of the 1992–93 season when the North-West North 1 division was cancelled.

Geeth Kumara is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Seeduwa Raddoluwa Cricket Club in the 2008–09 Premier Trophy on 14 November 2008. Geeth is also the club professional of Lancashire League team - Colne Cricket Club where he has also resigned for the 2023 season.

Geeth Silva is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut on 17 August 2004, for Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club in the 2004 SLC Twenty20 Tournament. He made his first-class debut for Sebastianites Cricket and Athletic Club in the 2007–08 Premier Trophy on 18 January 2008.

Ella Freya Telford is an English cricketer who currently plays for Yorkshire. She plays primarily as a right-arm medium bowler. She has previously played for Cumbria, Lancashire and Northern Diamonds.

The Keswick Open also known as the Keswick and Lake District Lawn Tennis Tournament was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament founded in 1888. The tournament was organised by the Keswick Lawn Tennis Club, and played annually at Fitz Park, Keswick, Cumbria, England until 1910.
