Biography

Kevin Field's early career included collaborations with saxophonist Nathan Haines on Haines' albums Shift Left, Soundkilla Sessions Vol 1, and Sound Travels. In 2003 he released his debut album Dangerous Curves documenting his compositional style within a piano trio context. This was followed by a collaborative album Irony with Canadian drummer Ron Samsom and German bassist Olivier Holland on the Rattle record label (2009). In between, Field was active as a pianist for other artists including vocalist Whirimako Black whose award winning album Sings he features on as musical director and pianist.

Nathan Haines New Zealand musician

In 2012 Warner Music released Field's third album Field of Vision. A largely collaborative recording with Field featured on both acoustic piano and fender rhodes, this album includes performances from vocalists Kevin Mark Trail (UK), Bex Nabouta (NZ), and Marjan Gorgani (Iran/NZ). Nathan Haines also features on saxophone and produced the album.

Field has also reunited with Haines on the saxophonist's 2012 release The Poet's Embrace and 2013's Vermillion Skies both on Warner Music.

Field's album The A List recorded with New York musicians Nir Felder (guitar), Matt Penman (bass) and Obed Calvaire (drums) is due for release in mid 2015.

<i>Definitive INXS</i> 2002 compilation album by INXS

Definitive INXS is a two-CD compilation of Australian rock band INXS released in 2002. It has almost the same track listing as The Best of INXS. The compilation features most of their hit singles, as well as two previously unreleased tracks, "Salvation Jane" and "Tight". "Salvation Jane" is an outtake taken from the X sessions in 1990. The 2002 remaster of X features the song's original demo. "Tight" was written by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Farriss and recorded by the band during the sessions for Welcome to Wherever You Are in 1992. The song was reworked by the remaining members of INXS in 2002 after the death of vocalist Michael Hutchence in 1997. The compilation also features a cover of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild", which was specially recorded for the April 1993 launch of Virgin Radio in the UK and was first included on the Japanese release of Full Moon, Dirty Hearts.

2013 New Zealand Music Awards

The 2013 New Zealand Music Awards is the 48th holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical recording artists based in or originating from New Zealand. The main awards event will be held on 21 November 2013 at Vector Arena, Auckland and will again be hosted by Shannon Ryan, along with new host Stan Walker. Nominations opened on 27 May 2013 and closed on 8 July 2013. Eligible works were those released between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013. The ceremony will be broadcast on television channel Four, as will a red carpet special hosted by Drew Neemia and Sharyn Casey.

The 2014 New Zealand Music Awards was the 49th holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical recording artists based in or originating from New Zealand. It took place on 20 November 2014 at Vector Arena in Auckland. The awards show was screened on channel Four, the first time the event was broadcast live.
