Kevin Mtai(from Soy, Kenya) is a Kenya climate justice activist and environmentalist. A Former event coordinator at MockCop26. [1] [2] [3] He is a Co-Founder and Director of Global Development for Earth Uprising International Earth Uprising where he has been advocating for climate education in Kenya and Africa. He is a member of Loss and Damage Youth Coalition and he has advocated for the conservation of Nairobi National Park. [4] Mtai is an organiser at Climate Live which uses music concerts to raise awareness and educate people about climate change. Mtai has also been a campaigner for Food@COP.

Additionally, he is the co-founder of Kenya Environmental Action Network (KEAN) where he has been supporting upcoming activists and environmental sustainability leaders by creating a space for meaningful engagement and supporting implementation of local action to address the climate and biodiversity crises in Kenya. He plays an active role in Fridays for Future International, and works to make sure that the stories of the Most Affected Peoples and Areas (Friday for Future MAPA) are centred on the global fight for climate justice.

In 2020, he coordinated the campaign Africa is not Dumpster where he fought against the export of plastic into Kenya by the American Chemistry Council. In July 2021, Mtai was part of a campaign to stop a hotel being built in Nairobi's National Park that activists said would endanger local wildlife. [5]

Mtai was listed as one of the top 100 influential people in Kenya in 2021 on Kenyans.co.ke . [6]

Leah Namugerwa is a youth climate activist in Uganda. She is known for leading tree planting campaigns and for starting a petition to enforce the plastic bag ban in Uganda. Following inspiration from Greta Thunberg, she began supporting school strikes in February 2019 with fellow Fridays for the Future Uganda organizer Sadrach Nirere.

Kaluki Paul Mutuku is a Kenyan climate activist and environmentalist, working to improve youth participation in decision-making around climate justice. He is the co-founder of Kenya Environmental Activists Network (KEAN); KEAN is a NGO that provides a platform that will bring together environmental activists. His center of attention for Africa lies around environmental rejuvenation, afforestation, organic farming and youth leadership across boards.

Nkosilathi Nyathi is a Zimbabwe UNICEF Climate Advocate. Nyathi has been a fierce advocate of advancing Zimbabwe’s climate and environmental agenda from an early age. The teenage activist has demonstrated to young Zimbabweans that they can take powerful steps in mitigating climate impacts within their communities. Nyathi started his activism journey by using the power of visual media to document first-hand experiences of the devastating effects of drought, flooding, and soil erosion within his home community in Victoria Falls. Nyathi’s vivid video documentary has shed light on the raw experiences of the socio-economic damage climate impacts have to the fabric of his home community. Despite Nyathi’s numerous award-winning accolades, the Zimbabwean activist is no stranger to putting effort into doing the real work. With a knack for public speaking, Nyathi has been a leading voice for the youth. As the UNICEF Zimbabwe representative, Nyathi is a fervent advocate who has delivered compelling appeals to world leaders for climate action in various conferences such as COP25 and the African Regional Summit on Sustainable Development to address climate change urgently Not only is Nyathi committed to holding leaders accountable, but he also co-heads the green club and hosts global virtual talks to numerous youth groups on climate action. He started campaigning at the age of 10 and advocates for youth inclusion in decision making roles. He is of the opinion youths’ efforts towards climate justice can not materialize if they can’t make calls at decision making platforms. Nkosilathi was at 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference COP25 in Madrid campaigning for more climate actions and youth inclusion from world leaders.

Adriana Calderón Mexican climate activist

Adriana Calderón Hernandéz is a youth climate activist and organizer from Mexico. She is one of the co-signers of UNICEF's Children's climate risk index report, part of the delegation of Fridays For Future MAPA that attended COP26, and one of the activists targeting the British multinational bank Standard Chartered and the Mexican state-owned petroleum company Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX).
