Robert Benson is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder, for Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division. He has also played for his hometown club, Athlone Town, UCD and St Patrick's Athletic. Benson has made 10 appearances in European competition throughout his career and was part of the Dundalk team that became the first Irish side ever to reach the play-off stage of the UEFA Champions League in August 2016. Benson scored twice for the club on their European run, including a volleyed goal against Legia Warsaw in the play-off round that received worldwide media coverage.

The LFA President's Cup was an association football cup competition featuring League of Ireland clubs affiliated to the Leinster Football Association. It was played for between 1930 and 2002. It was a de facto national super cup and on twenty four occasions featured the League of Ireland champions against the FAI Cup winners. The Football Association of Ireland also organised similar competitions, such as the Top Four Cup and the FAI Super Cup, both of which co-existed with the LFA President's Cup. Since 2014 the FAI has organised their own similarly named super cup, the President's Cup.

It was manager Vinny Perth's second season as manager until his dismissal following Dundalk's exit from Europe in the first qualifying round of the Champions League. The 2020 season was Dundalk's 12th consecutive season in the top tier of Irish football, their 85th in all, and their 94th in the League of Ireland.

Keith Ward is an Irish association football player who plays as a midfielder for League of Ireland club Dundalk. Ward began his professional career at UCD before moving to the Lilywhites for the first of three spells. He made his debut for Bohemians in 2012. Ward moved on from Bohemians to have spells at Sligo Rovers and Derry City respectively, before returning to Bohs for the 2017 season. Ward joined a select number of Bohemian players when he scored in an away tie in European competition against Hungarian side Fehérvár during Bohs UEFA Europa League qualifier in 2020. Bohemians were eventually knocked out on penalties. Ward signed for his current team, Dundalk, in December 2021, with his deal effective from January 2022, when his contract at Bohemians ends.
