Funk carioca, also known as favela funk, in other parts of the world as baile funk and Brazilian funk, or even simply funk, is a hip hop-influenced music genre from Rio de Janeiro, blending the rap subgenres of Miami bass and gangsta rap. Despite its name, funk carioca has no musical correlation with the American funk by any means.

Lia Clark, the stage name of Rhael Lima de Oliveira, is a Brazilian singer and drag queen. Born in Santos, São Paulo, Rhael grew up listening to Brazilian funk. Inspired by Valesca Popozuda and Tati Quebra-Barraco, in 2014, Rhael became the drag queen "Lia Clark", working as DJ known to play funk. Two years later, the artist came to prominence as a singer after the release of "Trava Trava". A hit on Spotify and YouTube, it led to a national tour and to the release of the extended play (EP) Clark Boom in 2016. In the following year, the EP spawned hits like "Chifrudo", "TOME CUrtindo" and "Boquetáxi". The first two marked collaborations with trans singer Mulher Pepita and drag queen Pabllo Vittar respectively, while the latter was involved in a controversy when her YouTube video was restricted because of alleged improper sexual content.
Valesca Reis Santos, better known as Valesca Popozuda is a Brazilian singer, dancer and former reality show contestant. She was the lead singer for the Brazilian funk carioca band Gaiola das Popozudas. Her stage name is Brazilian Portuguese for "Big-butted Valesca".

She has received numerous accolades, including four Latin American Music Awards and eight Latin Grammy Award nominations. She has won eight MTV Europe Music Awards and was the first Brazilian artist to be named Best Latin American Act.

Banda Uó was a Brazilian tecnobrega band composed of Davi Sabbag, Mateus Carrilho, and Candy Mel. The band was formed in 2010 in Goiânia. The group was initially composed of Davi Sabbag, Mateus Carrilho and Flora Maria. They released their first music video, a tecnobrega cover of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", called "Não Quero Saber", with help from students of Universidade Federal de Goiás and PUC Goiás.
