Khalilur Rahman Chowdhury,also known as Rafi,is a Bangladeshi politician and former Member of Parliament from Habiganj-1. [1]
Chowdhury was the former joint secretary general of the Jatiya Party and the district president of Habiganj. He then joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. [2] He was elected to parliament from Habiganj-1 as a Jatiya Party candidate in 1991. [3] He lost the seventh national election in June 1996 from the same seat.[ citation needed ]

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology,BNP later came out as one of the two most dominant parties in Bangladesh,along with its archrival Awami League. Initially being a big tent centrist party,it moved towards more right-wing politics later.
The Jatiya Party is a political party in Bangladesh self-describing as conservative,and is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad,against the Awami League.
