Khari Khari Lakes

The Khari Khari Lakes (Quechua khari khari a thorny medical plant, a species of rubus, [1] hispanicized spellings Cari Cari, Kari Kari, Kari-Kari) are two closely connected artificial lakes, San Ildefonso and San Pablo (now integrated into San Ildefonso) situated in the Khari Khari mountain range of Bolivia. [2] [3] The lakes lie about 8 km east of Potosí in the Potosí Department, Tomás Frías Province, Potosí Municipality, [4] northeast of the lakes named San Sebastián and Planilla which are also artificial lakes.

The lake is named after a river which originates in the mountains south and southeast of the lake.

The Potosí mountain range in Bolivia is situated east and southeast of the city of Potosí. It is at least 25 km long stretching from north to south. Its highest mountain is Khunurana (Anaruyu) rising up to 5,071 m (16,637 ft). The features of the range are considered the product of volcanic activity known as the Khari Khari caldera. The caldera is about 40 km long and 25 km at its widest point.

Khari Khari is a mountain in the Andes in the Potosí Department of Bolivia. It is the second highest elevation in the Potosí mountain range rising up to (5,040 m. It is also the highest mountain in the Khari Khari mountain range, the northern part of the Potosí mountain range.

Jatun Kunturiri is a mountain in the Potosí mountain range of the Bolivian Andes, about 5,008 m (16,430 ft) high. It is situated south-east of Potosí in the Potosí Department, José María Linares Province, in the south-west of the Puna Municipality. It lies between the Sip'uruni River in the north and the Khunurana in the south, north-west of the lake T'ala Qucha and the village Talaco.

Kachi Unu is a 4,641-metre-high (15,226 ft) mountain in the Andes of Bolivia. It is situated in the Potosí Department, Nor Lípez Province, Colcha "K" Municipality, San Juan Canton, and in the Quemes Municipality, Chiguana Canton. Kachi Unu lies northwest of Chiwana and Chakra Urqu and northeast of Tomasamil and Millu Urqu.

Ch'aska Urqu is a mountain in the Andes of Bolivia, about 4,640 metres (15,223 ft) high. It is situated in the Potosí Department, Sud Lípez Province, San Pablo de Lípez Municipality. Ch'aska Urqu lies west of the mountain Muruq'u and north-east of the mountains Palti Urqu and Q'illu Urqu.

Ch'aki Qucha is a 4,628-metre-high (15,184 ft) mountain in the Potosí mountain range in the Bolivian Andes at a lake of the same name. It is located in the Potosí Department, José María Linares Province, in the west of the Puna Municipality. Ch'aki Qucha lies south of the mountain Kuntur Ikiña, northeast of Kunturiri and a lake named T'ala Qucha and southeast of Jatun Kunturiri.

T'ala Qucha is a lake in the Potosí mountain range in the Andes of Bolivia. It is located in the Potosí Department, José María Linares Province, in the west of the Puna Municipality. T'ala Qucha lies south-east of the mountain Jatun Kunturiri, between the mountains Ch'aki Qucha in the north-east and Kunturiri in the south-west.

Yana Mayu is a 4,797-metre-high (15,738 ft) mountain in the Potosí mountain range of the Bolivian Andes. It is located in the Potosí Department, on the border of the Cornelio Saavedra Province, Chaqui Municipality, and the José María Linares Province, Puna Municipality. It is situated northeast of Jatun Kunturiri. The lakes named Kimsa Qucha and Q'ara Qucha lie at its feet.

P'ukru or Phujru is a 4,768-metre-high (15,643 ft) mountain in the Potosí mountain range in the Bolivian Andes. It is situated in the Potosí Department, Tomás Frías Province, in the south of the Potosí Municipality. P'ukru lies southwest of Khunurana and a mountain named Q'umir Qucha.

Urqu Qucha is a lake in the Andes of Bolivia. It is located in the Potosí Department, Cornelio Saavedra Province, Tacobamba Municipality, at the border with the Tomás Frías Province, Potosí Municipality. Urqu Qucha lies south-west of the mountain Titi Pinkillu and north of the Challwiri River, an affluent of the Pillku Mayu.

Titi Pinkillu is a 4,529-metre-high (14,859 ft) mountain in the Bolivian Andes. It is situated in the Potosí Department, Cornelio Saavedra Province, Tacobamba Municipality, near the border with the Tomás Frías Province, Potosí Municipality. Titi Pinkillu lies north-east of the lake Urqu Qucha. This is also where the Challwiri River, an affluent of the Pillku Mayu, originates.

Chiwana is a 5,301-metre-high (17,392 ft) mountain in Bolivia. It is located in the Potosí Department, on the border of the Nor Lípez Province, Colcha "K" Municipality, and the Quemes Municipality. The mountain lies at the Chiwana salt flat.

Luru Mayu is a 5,888-metre-high (19,318 ft) mountain in Bolivia. It is located in the Potosí Department, Sud Lípez Province, San Pablo de Lípez Municipality. It lies in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, southeast of a lake named Luru Mayu.

Quchayuq is a mountain in the Andes of Bolivia which reaches a height of approximately 3,680 m (12,070 ft). It is located in the Potosí Department, Nor Chichas Province, Cotagaita Municipality. Quchayuq lies northwest of Achakanayuq.
