The Nepali Congress is the largest social democratic political party in Nepal. Rabindra Prasad Adhikari was a Nepali politician and three time parliamentarian,belonging to the Nepal Communist Party (NCP). He was Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation from 16 March 2018 until his death in a helicopter crash. He was the Kaski District secretary of the party. In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election,Adhikari was elected from the Kaski-3 constituency,with 13,386 votes. In the 2013 Constituent Assembly election,he was re-elected from the Kaski-3 constituency,with 15,456 votes. In 2017,CPN-UML candidate Rabindra Adhikari won parliamentary elections from Kaski Constituency No. 2. Representing the left alliance,Adhikari secured 27,207 votes to defeat Nepali Congress candidate Dev Raj Chalise,who got 18,661 votes. After his demise,his wife Bidya Bhattarai won Kaski Constituency-2 with a wide margin of 8,403 votes in the by-election. Bhattarai secured 24,394 votes while her nearest contender Khem Raj Poudel from main opposition Nepali Congress got 15,991. Likewise,Socialist Party's Dharma Raj Gurung got 1,922 votes. He authored the books Constituent Assembly,Democracy and Re-structuring.
General elections were held in Nepal on 9 May 1981 to elect members of the Rastriya Panchayat. 80% of the seats were elected through adult universal suffrage;this was the first election through universal suffrage held in Nepal in 22 years. However,political parties were banned at the time,and the main underground opposition forces called for a boycott of the election.

Rastriya Panchayat was the official legislature (parliament) during the Panchayat regime of Nepal that effectively functioned from 1960 to 1990. General elections were held in Nepal in two phases on 26 November and 7 December 2017 to elect the 275 members of the fifth House of Representatives,the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The election was held alongside the first provincial elections for the seven provincial assemblies. A political deadlock between the governing Nepali Congress and the winning left-wing coalition over the system used to elect the upper house led to delay in forming the new government. Following the announcement of final result by the Election Commission,K.P. Oli of Communist Party of Nepal was sworn in as Prime Minister on 15 February 2018 by the President according to Article 76 (2) of the constitution. He passed a Motion of Confidence on 11 March 2018 with 208 votes.

He is the member of the Presidium of Nepal Communist Party and the former member of Communist Party of Nepal. He was also the President of the former Communist Party of Nepal for the district of Dhading ;he is a great politician.
Kedar Sigdel is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system representing CPN UML from Tanahun-2 constituency. He defeated his nearest rival Shankar Bhandari of Nepali Congress by acquiring 32,924 votes to Bhandari's 29,645. This was the first time he was elected to parliament. Following the merger of CPN UML with CPN to form Nepal Communist Party (NCP),he represents the new party in parliament.
Krishna Bahadur Rai is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Kathmandu-3 constituency,representing CPN UML of the left alliance,under the first-past-the-post electoral system. This is the first time he has been elected to parliament. He defeated his nearest rival Ambika Basnet of Nepali Congress by acquiring 19,169 votes to Basnet's 14,884.
Lal Prasad Sawa Limbu is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. This is the first time he has been elected to parliament. He was elected from Jhapa-4 constituency under the first-past-the-post system representing CPN UML of the left alliance. He received 43,515 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Deuman Thebe of Nepali Congress who received 26,822 votes.
Narayan Prasad Khatiwada is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Nuwakot-2 constituency,representing CPN UML of the left alliance,by defeating his nearest rival,senior Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC,by more than 10,000 votes.
Narayan Prasad Marasini is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Syangja-1 constituency defeating Raju Thapa of Nepali Congress by more than 10,000 votes. A long time member of CPN UML,he represents the newly formed Nepal Communist Party (NCP) following the merger of the party with CPN. He was also the candidate for CPN UML in Syangja-1 constituency in the second constituent assembly election,in 2013.
A by-election was held in Kaski 2 constituency of Nepal on 30 November 2019,following the death of incumbent Rabindra Prasad Adhikari in a helicopter crash. Adhikari was a 3-term Member of Parliament from Kaski. He was the Minister of Culture,Tourism and Civil Aviation at the time of his death. The by-election was won by Bidya Bhattarai,his widow,with 54.27% of the vote. She defeated her nearest rival,Khem Raj Paudel of Nepali Congress,by 8,403 votes.
The First Federal Parliament of Nepal,consisting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly,was elected via the 2017 legislative,provincial and local elections.
