Kimi Records is an Icelandic independent record label and distribution company.
Kimi Records was founded in 2007 by Baldvin Esra Einarsson and his wife out of Akureyri, Iceland. The Kimi Records roster includes mainly Icelandic inde rock acts, but also includes bands belonging to other genres of music and despite its young age, Kimi records have also released non-Icelandic acts. [1]
Kimi Records started out as a record company and distributed their own music on their own. The label has also distributed releases by artists such as FM Belfast, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Leaves, Seabear and Stórsveit Nix Noltes. [2]
In 2009 Kimi Records started operating a sub-label, Brak Records, for more obscure Icelandic music. In its first year of operation it released one album a month. The same year Kimi Records started operating a more mainstream label, Borgin. Borgin is now in hiatus.
Kimi's first release was Hellvars' Bat out of Hellvar on November 22, 2007. [3] Kimi's first compilation, Hitaveitan, saw the light of day in the summer 2010.

Diplomat Records is an American hip hop record label founded by Harlem rapper Cam'ron. Dipset currently releases music under the independent label E1 music. The Cab is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Their debut album, Whisper War, was released on April 29, 2008. They have been called "The Band You Need to Know 2008" by Alternative Press magazine. They were also featured in the '100 Bands You Need to Know in 2010' by the magazine and were one of the three bands featured on the cover page, along with Never Shout Never and Hey Monday. Their second album Symphony Soldier was released on August 23, 2011, with its first single "Bad" released to iTunes July 11, 2011, and announced by the band on July 18. The Cab funded the entire album by themselves and left their Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance label, self-releasing Symphony Soldier. AbsolutePunk gave an extremely positive review with a rating of 95%, calling the album a "masterpiece". The pre-orders in the band's webstore featured eleven packages, ranging from $10 to $9,999. Symphony Soldier is digitally available on iTunes, and only available as physical CDs from the band's webstore. The band's latest work, Lock Me Up EP, was released on April 29, 2014.
kimono are an Icelandic-Canadian math rock band, formed in 2001. The group consists of Alison MacNeil, Gylfi Blöndal and Kjartan Bragi Bjarnason. Blöndal is also a member of Hudson Wayne and Mr. Silla and Bjarnason plays drums Seabear and has performed on a number of other Icelandic independent albums.
Úlfur Hansson is an Icelandic electronic musician. Úlfur's first album, Sweaty Psalms, was released in May 2008. It was recorded and written over two years, self-released but distributed by Kimi Records locally. The record received outstanding reviews in local newspapers and webzines, for example, being voted the seventh best album of 2008 by rjominn.is. In promotion of the album, Klive toured Germany in 2009, opening for Kira Kira. Following the success of Klive's first album, Úlfur signed a record deal with newly reformed Mille Plateaux.
Ten Thousand Free Men & Their Families is a musical project of Sydney based Game Boy music composer and performer Thomas Gilmore, who began writing music with the Nintendo Game Boy in 2007. Shortly after in 2008, Gilmore and Dot.AY from Brisbane started a blog documenting and promoting Australian chipmusic called GameBoyAustralia. In early 2011, Gilmore and Eugene Davoren-Britton launched a vinyl-only chipmusic label called Sounds Legit. The name for Gilmore's project was inspired by the A Lesson Is Learned But The Damage Is Irreversible webcomic of a similar title. Gilmore currently performs live vocals in a hardcore punk style that transcends the regular boundaries of chipmusic, to form a style of music that Gilmore calls "chipunk". In March 2016, after a period of silence from the act, a live band manifestation of Ten Thousand Free Men & Their Families played at Square Sounds Festival Melbourne.
