The Great Council of Chiefs is a Fijian constitutional body. It previously existed from 1876 to March 2012 and was re-established in May 2023.
Ratu Sir Penaia Kanatabatu Ganilau was a Fijian politician who served as the first President of Fiji, serving from 8 December 1987 until his death in 1993. He had previously served as Governor-General of Fiji, representing Elizabeth II, Queen of Fiji, from 12 February 1983 to 15 October 1987.

He was democratically elected as Prime Minister of Fiji, serving from 1992 to 1999, and again in 2022, leading a three-party coalition. He also served as Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs from 1999 to 2001, and later as Chairman of the Cakaudrove Provincial Council from 2001 to 2008.

Ratu Ovini Bokini Ratu was a Fijian chief and political leader. Bokini, who held the chiefly title of Tui Tavua, succeeded Ratu Epeli Ganilau as Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs on 21 July 2004, and was re-elected to this post for a full three-year term on 27 July 2005.
The House of Chiefs in Fiji consists of the Fijian nobility, composed of about seventy chiefs of various ranks, majority of which are related. It is not a formal political body and is not the same as the former Great Council of Chiefs, which was a political body with a prescribed constitutional role, although the membership of the two bodies did overlap to a great extent.

Mohammad Apisai Vuniyayawa Tora was a Fijian politician, soldier, and trade unionist. As a labour leader, he was a fighter for dock workers. As a soldier, he served in Malaya and later served as President of the Ex-Servicemen's League.
Kanacea (Kanathea) is a volcanic island with seven peaks in Fiji's Lau archipelago. It is 15 km west of Vanua Balavu. Covering an area of 12.48 square kilometres, it has a maximum elevation of 259 meters.
Cakaudrove is one of fourteen provinces of Fiji, and one of three based principally on the northern island of Vanua Levu, occupying the south-eastern third of the island and including the nearby islands of Taveuni, Rabi, Kioa, and numerous other islands in the Vanua Levu Group. It has a total land area of 2,816 square kilometers, with a population of 50,469 at the most recent census in 2017, making it the seventh most populous province. The only major town is Savusavu, with a population of 3,372 in 2007.
Cakaudrove West Fijian Provincial Communal is a former electoral division of Fiji, one of 23 communal constituencies reserved for indigenous Fijians. Established by the 1997 Constitution, it came into being in 1999 and was used for the parliamentary elections of 1999, 2001, and 2006.. The electorate covered western areas of Cakaudrove Province, in the southeastern part of the northern island of Vanua Levu.
Ratu Jekesoni Lewenilovo Yavalanavanua is a Fijian chief and former politician, who served as a member of the Senate of Fiji. He hails from the chiefly village of Somosomo, on the island of Taveuni, Cakaudrove Province. He is the Secretary General of the Council of Chiefs of the Vanua of Lalagavesi (Cakaudrove). He spent 17 years working under the Ministry of Fijian Affairs as Assistant Roko Tui, Acting Roko Tui and Executive Officer. In 2006 he was nominated as a Senator by Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase. In May 2018 he was appointed chair of the Cakaudrove Provincial Council.
Ratu Solomone Buaserau is a Fijian politician. Prior to the military coup of 5 December 2006, he was a member of the Senate of Fiji and represented Naitasiri Province. Ratu Solomone Buaserau married Adi Litia Vosailagi [daughter of the late Ratu Timoci Vosalagi - Turaga Na Kalevu, Na Tui Nadroga, and younger sister of Ratu Kinijoji Nanovo Vosailagi- late Turaga na Kalevu].
Ratu Tiale Wimbledon Thomas Vuiyasawa was a Fijian chief, civil servant and politician. He served as a member of the Legislative Council and Senate.
Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, CF is a Fijian chief and politician who has served as president of Fiji since 2021. He has been chief of Macuata Province since 2013, succeeding his older brother Aisea Katonivere; he was previously involved in conservation initiatives of Fiji's Great Sea Reef.
