Kiran Jaisal [2] is an Indian politician from Uttarakhand who is currently serving as the mayor of Haridwar as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was elected Mayor of Haridwar with a margin of 28,570 votes in the 2025 Haridwar Municipal Corporation election. [3] [4]
Jaisal's husband,Subhash Chandra, [1] is also a BJP politician,a friend of Prime Minister Modi and a media baron [5] and she has served as a councillor twice. She was chosen as the candidate by the Bharatiya Janata Party standing against her main rival Amresh Baliyan. [1] She was one of six candidates announced by the BJP in December and she was chosen in the Other Backward Classes category. [6]
Jaisal was elected to succeed Anita Sharma who was the first woman to be elected mayor of Haridwar. Sharma was from the Congress party and she had beaten her BJP opponent by a small majority. [7]
Jaisal was sworn in to represent the BJP on 10 February by Karmendra Singh and she then proceeded to swear in 60 councillors. She targetted encroachments on council land and waterlogging. She planned to install CCTV to assist in ensuring women were safe. [8]
