Kiribati, officially the Republic of Kiribati, is an independent island nation in the central Pacific Ocean. Kiribati national football team

The Kiribati national football team is the national men's football team of Kiribati and is controlled by the Kiribati Islands Football Association. Kiribati is not a member of FIFA but is an associate member of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), and is therefore not eligible to enter the FIFA World Cup but may enter the OFC Nations Cup. It became a provisional member of the N.F.-Board on 10 December 2005.

The House of Assembly is the Legislature of Kiribati. Since 2016, it has 45 members, 44 elected for a four-year term in 23 single-seat and multi-seat constituencies and 1 not-elected delegate from the Banaban community on Rabi Island in Fiji. From 1979 to 2016, the Attorney general was an ex officio member of the legislature, until a change of the constitution modified this provision.

Maiana

Maiana is an atoll in Kiribati and is one of the Central Gilbert Islands. Maiana is 44 kilometres (27 mi) south of the capital island of South Tarawa and has a population of 1,982 as of 2015. The northern and eastern sides of the atoll are a single island, whilst the western edge consists of submerged reefs and many uninhabited islets, all surrounding a lagoon. The atoll is 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) long and is very narrow, with an average width of less than 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) and a total land area of 16.72 square kilometres (6.46 sq mi).

His or her constitutional functions are to exercise the duties of the President of Kiribati, temporarily or permanently, should the latter be unable to do so, and to "be responsible for such business of the government as the Beretitenti [President] may assign to him".

Dr. Harry Tong, is an I-Kiribati politician with Chinese heritage. He was born in Tabuaeran, Line Islands and is the second child of Chinese immigrant Tong Ting Hai and Nei Keke Randolph, of Abaiang and Maiana. Harry Tong attended Wanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand, and then went on to complete his medical training at the Fiji School of Medicine.

2011 Kiribati parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections were held in Kiribati on October 21 and 28, 2011. In the first round, exactly half of the 44 members of parliament were elected, with the remainder chosen in the proceeding run-off elections. 30 candidates were reelected, and four government ministers lost their seats. One seat had to go to a third round of elections due to two candidates tying in the second round. In the third round, Jacob Teem defended his seat against Rutio Bangao with just 27 votes difference. The parliament in Kiribati is known as Maneaba ni Maungatabu. The next parliamentary election was not scheduled until 2015.

Taneti Maamau President of Kiribati

Taneti Maamau is an I-Kiribati politician who is currently the 5th President of Kiribati. A member of Tobwaan Kiribati Party, he began his career in public service as a Planning Officer with the Ministry of Finance before becoming Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives.

Maere Tekanene is a former I-Kiribati politician, and part of the Pillars of Truth party, who was the Kiribati Member of Parliament for the South Tarawa constituency from 2011, and the Education Minister from 2012, until losing her seat at the 2015–16 parliamentary election.

2020 Kiribati parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections in Kiribati, for electing the Maneaba ni Maungatabu, were originally planned on 7 April 2020, with a second round of voting to be held on 15 April 2020. However, in late March the Electoral Commission changed the voting date to 14 April 2020, with a second round on 21 April 2020.

Rereao Tetaake Eria is a former I-Kiribati politician. Succeeding to her husband Mr Tetaake Eria, she served as a member of parliament for Teraina in the ninth and tenth Parliaments of Kiribati. She represented the Pillars of Truth party. In the 2015–16 Kiribati parliamentary election, she lost her seat to Uriam Iabeta.

Uriam Tirae Iabeta was an I-Kiribati politician. He served as a Member of Parliament for the island of Teraina in the eleventh Parliament of Kiribati. He was aligned with the Tobwaan Kiribati Party, and won his seat during the 2015–16 Kiribati parliamentary election, defeating the incumbent Rereao Tetaake Eria.

Shiu-Fung Jong is an I-Kiribati politician. She serves as a Member of Parliament for the Tarawa Urban constituency, from the Pillars of Truth party. She was first elected in the 2015–16 Kiribati parliamentary election.

Tangariki Reete is an I-Kiribati politician, who was the Member of Parliament for Betio. She entered the House of Assembly in 2008 after the death of her father. She is a member of the Pillars of Truth party, and previously served as the first Minister for Women, Youth and Social Affairs from 2013 until 2016. On 22 May 2020 she was elected as the Speaker of the House of Assembly, beating the previous Speaker, 25 votes to 19.
