The Northwestern Wildcats football team represents Northwestern University as an NCAA Division I college football team and member of the Big Ten Conference based near Chicago in Evanston, Illinois. Founded in 1851, Northwestern began playing football in 1882. Its football mascot is the Wildcat, a term coined by a Chicago Tribune reporter in 1924, after reporting on a football game where the players appeared as "a wall of purple wildcats". Northwestern Football is also marketed as "Chicago's Big Ten Team" with its proximity and ties to Chicago.

Scott Gregory Hazelton is an American football coach. He was recently the defensive coordinator at Michigan State University. Hazelton was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Kansas State University in 2019 before moving to Michigan State. He was previously the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at the University of Wyoming in 2017 and 2018 where he led nationally ranked defenses in both seasons, linebackers coach at USC in 2012 and the defensive coordinator of the 2011 FCS National Champions, North Dakota State Bison. Hazelton was tutored as a defensive coach under the guidance of then North Dakota State head coach and current Buffalo Bills assistant Bob Babich and Gus Bradley who is a former head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, former Bison assistant coach, and is currently the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers.
The 2015 Austin Peay Governors football team represented Austin Peay State University during the 2015 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Governors were led by third-year head coach Kirby Cannon, played their home games at Governors Stadium, and were a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 0–11, 0–8 in OVC play to finish in last place. This was the second time in the last three seasons that the Governors went winless and they are 1–34 in that span.

The Wildcats played their home games at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky. Kentucky played as a member of the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. They were led by fifth-year head coach Mark Stoops. They finished the season 7–6, 4–4 in SEC play to finish in a tie for third place in the Eastern Division. They were invited to the Music City Bowl where they lost to Northwestern.
William Livingston Healy is an American football coach. He is currently the assistant to the head coach and senior offensive analyst for UCF. He was the head coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 2019 to 2022. At the time of hire on December 4, 2018, he was the 2nd youngest football coach in Division 1 football. In just his second season at Austin Peay, Healy spearheaded one of the most remarkable turnarounds in college football history. Coming into the 2017 season with just one win in the last four years, Healy guided the Governors to an 8–4 mark, including an 8–1 record against Football Championship Subdivision competition. Austin Peay tallied seven OVC victories – the most conference wins in program history.
John Jancek is an American college football coach and former defensive lineman. He is currently special teams coordinator at LSU. He is married to his wife Kelly Jancek. Jancek has four sons Brady, Jack, Brock, and Zac.
Joshua King Eargle is an American football coach and former player. He is the Deputy Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach at Florida International University (FIU). Roland Lee Fanning is a baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Austin Peay Governors. He played college baseball at Carl Albert State, Northern Oklahoma Enid and Southeastern Oklahoma.
