Advancement and recognition in the Boy Scouts of America is a tradition dating from the inception of the Scouting movement. A fundamental purpose of advancement is the self-confidence a young man or woman acquires from his participation in Scouting. Advancement is one of the methods used in the "Aims and Methods of Scouting"– character development, citizenship training and personal fitness.
Scouts Australia is a trading name of The Scout Association of Australia, which is the largest scouting organisation in Australia, with an estimated 55,038 youth participants in 2021, and a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. It was formed in 1958 and incorporated in 1967. It operates personal development programs for children and young adults from 5 to 25 years of age with programs successively opened to girls after 1971.
The Scout Association of Japan is the major Scouting organization of Japan. Starting with boys only, the organization was known as Boy Scouts of Japan from 1922 to 1971, and as Boy Scouts of Nippon from 1971 to 1995, when it became coeducational in all sections, leading to neutral naming. Scouting activity decreased radically during World War II but slowly recovered; membership at the end of May 2017 was 99,779.
The Asia-Pacific Scout Region is the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Makati, Philippines, with satellite offices in Australia and Japan. The Asia-Pacific Region services Scouting in the land area of Asia south of Siberia and east of Central Asia, and the bulk of the Pacific Basin, with the exception of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau, which are under the Interamerican Region by way of the Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Sri Lanka Scout Association, is a Scouting organization in Sri Lanka operated by the Ceylon Scout Council. The Ceylon Scout Council is a corporation formed by Act No 13 of 1957. The association became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1953. The coeducational Sri Lanka Scout Association has 33,709 members as of 2014. in 2016 the year that the National Organisation reached 104 years the Scouting Population in Sri Lanka had increased to 55,078 the growth taking place against the year 2015 was 29% which was a great achievement by the SLSA.
Established in 1927, the World Board, originally World Committee, is a governing board for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Today, it is made up of seventeen active members of WAGGGS, all of whom are elected democratically by all member organizations at the World Conference. Of the seventeen, five are representatives of each of the five regions of WAGGGS - the Arab Region, the Western Hemisphere Region, the European Region, the Africa Region, and the Asia Pacific Region. These regional representatives are elected at the Regional Conferences.

Yoritake Matsudaira present chairman of Hongō Gakuen, served as the international commissioner and member of the board of directors of the Scout Association of Japan, as well as a member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee and a founding member of the World Buddhist Scout Brotherhood. Matsudaira retired from the post of International Commissioner on reaching the retirement age of 65 in 2003, and presently serves as president (Renmei-chō) of the Kagawa Scout Council.
Takemichi Toby Suzuki, a former elected member of the World Scout Committee from 1999 to 2005, served as the former Chairman of the Information and Communications Technology subcommittee of the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement from 1995 to 1998, former member of the National Executive Council and the National Board of the Scout Association of Japan from 1993 to 2007.
John George Ravenhall of Melbourne, Australia served as the Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Australia from 2003 to early 2009, a member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee and a member of the World Training Committee and World Adult Resources Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
Paul Parkinson OAM of Brisbane, Australia served as the Regional Chair of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Scouts Australia National Commissioner for Adult Training and Development. He is, as well, Principal of the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT).
Bruce Hugh Garnsey served as the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Scout Committee.

Geoffrey "Geoff" Lee AM OAM (1928–2007) served as the International Commissioner of Scouts Australia, as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Scout Committee and then Vice Chairman of the Lord Baden-Powell Society Management Committee, and played a major role in the success of the 16th World Scout Jamboree.

Janaprith Salinda Fernando of Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Colombo Law Society President, serves as the Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association and an elected volunteer member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) from 2012 to 2018.He is currently serving in the World Scout Committee, the World Organisation of the Scout Movement's highest governing body. Fernando was elected to this body in August 2017 by the 41st World Scout Conference, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
In the Boy Scouts of America, a Scout leader refers to the trained leaders of a Scout unit. Adult leaders are generally referred to as "Scouters," and the youth leaders are referred to by their position within a unit. In all Scouting units above the Cub Scout pack and units serving adolescent Scouts, leadership of the unit comprises both adult leaders (Scouters) and youth leaders (Scouts). This is a key part of the Aims and Methods of Scouting. In order to learn leadership, the youth must actually serve in leadership roles.
