Kismet were an Australian darkwave band, formed in 1993 by Macedonian immigrant and ex-Mizar guitarist Gorazd Chapovski after that band's breakup in 1991 and his relocation to Australia shortly after.
Kismet were formed in 1993 by Chapovski. His Mizar bandmate Ilija Stojanovski joined him on bass.
The group released their first EP, Dormant Dire, in 1994, followed by a full-length, Damjan's War, in 1995. In 1997, they signed to the Tone Casualties label in the US, releasing an album, Wake Up Gods shortly after. In 1999, the group released the North Atlantic Balkan Express album, which had used working titles "The Tank" and "Black General". That year, they moved back to Macedonia, contributing two tracks to a tribute album to Mizar and coordinating the project. They got a Macedonian record deal with Avalon Produkcija, releasing the Dreaming LP in 2002.
The band broke up that year and Chapovski reconvened Mizar.

Crowded House are a rock band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1985. Its founding members were New Zealander Neil Finn and Australians Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). Later band members include Neil Finn's brother, Tim Finn and sons Liam and Elroy, as well as Americans Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod, with Neil Finn and Nick Seymour being the sole constant members of the group since its formation.
Sugar was an American alternative rock band active in the early 1990s. Formed in 1992, they were led by the singer and guitarist Bob Mould, alongside bassist David Barbe (ex-Mercyland) and drummer Malcolm Travis.
The Screaming Jets are an Australian hard rock band formed in Newcastle, Australia, in 1989 by frontman Dave Gleeson (vocals), Paul Woseen, Grant Walmsley (guitar), Richard Lara (guitar), and Brad Heaney (drums). The band has three albums that peaked in the top five on the Australian ARIA Charts: All for One (1991), Tear of Thought (1992), and The Screaming Jets (1995). Their 1991 single "Better" reached No. 4 on the related singles chart. Walmsley left in 2007 and formed his own band. In 2013, bassist Paul Woseen released an acoustic solo album, Bombido.
You Am I are an Australian alternative rock band, fronted by its lead singer-songwriter and guitarist, Tim Rogers. They formed in December 1989 and are the first Australian band to have released three successive albums that have each debuted at the number-one position on the ARIA Albums Chart: Hi Fi Way, Hourly, Daily and #4 Record. Nine of their tracks appeared on the related ARIA Singles Chart top 50 with "What I Don't Know 'bout You", their highest charting, at No. 28. You Am I have received ten ARIA Music Awards from thirty-one nominations. The band have supported international artists such as the Who, the Rolling Stones, Sonic Youth and Oasis.
Cog are an Australian progressive rock band that formed in 1998. Their debut album, The New Normal, was nominated for Triple J's 2005 J Award. The band's music is influenced by Tool, Isis, Nina Simone, Bob Marley, Leftfield, Deftones and Helmet.
Mizar is a Macedonian rock band from Skopje. They achieved a status of a cult band, especially in Macedonia and across the former Yugoslavian countries.
Svjat Dreams 1762–1991, known by fans as simply Svjat Dreams, was released on 7 September 1991, and is the 2nd studio album to be released by the group Mizar. It was the last album by the group before they broke up in 1992, but they reformed in 2003.
Arhangel is a Macedonian alternative rock band formed in 1989. The frontman is Risto Vrtev who has also been part of such rock bands as Mizar and Inola X. The original line-up is: Risto Vrtev, Dragan Ginovski, Panta Džambazoski (drums) and Dejan Argirovski. Arhangel has released five albums which have been met with both critical and commercial success. The band's sound is both muscular and melodic at the same time, echoing post-punk icons such as the English The Smiths and the Serbian Ekaterina Velika, while the band's lyrical inspirations focus is on the country's political and cultural changes during the 1990s. The band is also associated with the art movement Makedonska Streljba during the 1980s and the 1990s.
Mondo Rock are an Australian rock band, formed in November 1976 in Melbourne, Victoria. Singer-songwriter Ross Wilson founded the band, following the split of his previous band Daddy Cool. Guitarist Eric McCusker, who joined in 1980, wrote many of the band's hits, and along with Wilson formed the core of the group. They are best known for their second album, Chemistry, which was released in July 1981 and peaked at number 2 on the Australian Kent Music Report. Their song "Come Said the Boy" peaked at number 2 in Australia in 1983.
Padot na Vizantija was an influential 1980s post-punk, darkwave and gothic rock band with occasional Byzantine music elements from Skopje, SR Macedonia. The group is notable for its guitar player Klime Kovačeski and vocalist Goran Trajkoski who rose to international prominence as a frontman of the group Anastasia which was featured on the soundtrack album for the Academy Award-nominated movie Before the Rain directed by Milčo Mančevski. The most prominent tracks by Padot na Vizantija are Night Over Yugoslavia, Beginning and End, The Same Situation After All and Horse Riders (Коњаници). They performed in Skopje, Kumanovo, Štip, Niš, Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Zagreb among others.
Goran Trajkoski is a Macedonian musician. He rose to international prominence as a frontman of the group Anastasija which was featured on the soundtrack album for the Academy Award-nominated movie Before the Rain directed by Milčo Mančevski. He started his musical career as a member of the punk rock band Afektiven naboj from Struga. After moving to Skopje he joined the punk band Saraceni led by Vladimir Petrovski Karter. Later he was a vocalist of the influential 1980s group Padot na Vizantija. He played bass guitar in the Macedonian cult band Mizar from 1986 until 1987. After the reunion of Mizar in the 2000s, Goran Trajkovski became its new frontman. He is also involved in solo projects, for instance as an author of electronic music under the pseudonym Gotra (Готра) as well as a composer for film soundtracks and theatre music.
Afektiven Naboj was one of the two punk rock bands formed in 1979 by the guitar player Klime Kovaceski and Goran Trajkoski, now an eminent musician from North Macedonia, who rose to international prominence as a frontman of the group Anastasia featured on the soundtrack album for the Academy Award-nominated Milčo Mančevski's film Before the Rain.
Alexander Veljanov is a Macedonian singer. He became famous through singing in the darkwave band Deine Lakaien which he founded with Ernst Horn in 1985.
Australian heavy metal music has its roots in both the Australian hard rock and pub rock tradition of the 1970s and the American and British heavy metal scenes.
