The Krishna River is the fourth-largest river in terms of water inflows and river basin area in India, after the Ganges, Godavari and Brahmaputra. Coastal Andhra is a region in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It was part of Madras State before 1953 and Andhra State from 1953 to 1956. According to the 2011 census, it has an area of 91,915 square kilometres (35,489 sq mi) which is 57.99% of the total state area and a population of 34,193,868 which is 69.20% of Andhra Pradesh state population. This area includes the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh on the Circar Coast between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal, from the northern border with Odisha to Nellore district in the South. Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh also falls under Coastal Andhra region.

Andhra State was a state in India created in 1953 from the Telugu-speaking northern districts of Madras State. The state was made up of this two distinct cultural regions – Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra. Andhra State did not include all Telugu-speaking areas, as it excluded some in Hyderabad State. Under the State Reorganisation Act of 1956, Andhra State was merged with the Telugu-speaking regions of Hyderabad State to form Andhra Pradesh.

Munnuru Kapu is a caste in Telangana, India. Prior to the establishment of Telangana as a state separate from that of Andhra Pradesh, of which previously it had been a region, there were four different Kapu communities in the various districts of Andhra Pradesh, being the Munnuru kapu Patel's in Telangana itself, the Toorpu in the areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam, the Balija in Rayalaseema and those known simply as Kapu in the Godavari districts, Guntur and Krishna. People belonging to Munnuru Kapu Caste in Telangana is primarily Agrarian community and own lands. They are often referred as 'Patels' in Telangana and carry either Patel or Reddy title along with their names. Reddy was originally a title given to village heads irrespective of any caste. Reddy emerged as a separate caste by one section of people making it as their caste name. However, till today Reddy title is used by many communities in Andhra and Telangana Especially, families those worked as village heads in ancient times still continue to use Reddy title.
