The Kofi Annan University of Guinea (abbreviated as UKAG) is a private university in West Africa located in Nongo, Ratoma Commune, Republic of Guinea. It is the oldest private higher education institution in Guinea.
Founded by Ousmane Kaba, it is named after the former Ghanaian diplomat Kofi Annan, who was the Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1997 to 2006.
The Kofi Annan University of Guinea, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy, was created on May 28, 1999 (law no. 2814/MESR/CAB) with the missions to: [1]

The library is located on the third floor of the administrative building and contains over 50,000 titles in virtual and digital formats, as well as more than 40 computer workstations equipped with internet for staff and students.
The Kofi Annan University of Guinea also has a cultural space that hosts various forums, conferences, panels, and exhibitions. [3] [4]
On February 11, 2023, the Entrepreneurship House of Kofi Annan University of Guinea was inaugurated. The ceremony took place in the presence of Diaka Sidibé, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. [5]
More than 6000 students are enrolled, and the number remains stable despite the government's ban on directing students to private universities in 2016. [6] [7]
The health situation faced by Guinea in 2014–2015 with the Ebola virus and in 2019-2020 led to increased use of the university's online platform. [8]

Ahmed Sékou Touré was a Guinean political leader and African statesman who was the first president of Guinea from 1958 until his death in 1984. Touré was among the primary Guinean nationalists involved in gaining independence of the country from France. He would later die in the United States in 1984.
François Lonseny Fall is a Guinean diplomat and politician. He briefly served as Prime Minister of Guinea from February 23, 2004 to July 15, 2004, under authoritarian President Lansana Conté. The Union for Progress and Renewal is an opposition political party in Guinea, founded in September 1998 through the merger of Siradio Diallo's Renewal and Progress Party and Ba Mamadou's Union for the New Republic. Camp Boiro or Camp Mamadou Boiro (1960–1984) is a defunct Guinean concentration camp within Conakry city. During the regime of President Ahmed Sékou Touré, thousands of political opponents were imprisoned at the camp. It has been estimated that almost 5,000 people were executed or died from torture or starvation at the camp. According to other estimates, the number of victims was ten times higher: 50,000.
Presidential elections were held in Guinea in 2010. They were held under the two-round system, with the first round taking place on 27 June 2010 and the second round on 7 November, after an initial date of 18 July and several other postponements. Alpha Condé was declared the winner, with 52.52% of the votes in the second round. He assumed office on 21 December 2010.
