Koon is a 2024 Indian Malayalam language thriller film directed by Prasanth B Molickal. The film stars Limal G Paadath and Sithara Vijayan in lead roles and was released on 4 October 2024 with limited prints. [1]
The film is the last release of late actress Lakshmika Sajeevan, known for the highly acclaimed telefilm 'Kakka,' [2] [3]
Koon is the story of a working woman, who gets kidnapped as he wanted her to fall in love with him. But as she tries to escape, she accidently encounters his past life traumas and understands more about him and his intention.
The first announcement of the film was on 13 July, 2021 with the crew deciding to make the film after Covid restrictions were lifted, with Liimal G Padath and Sithara Vijayan, chosen through an audition doing the lead roles. Hema Committee was an advisory committee formed by the Government of Kerala in July 2017, to investigate the issues related to sexual violence and gender inequality, in the Malayalam cinema industry and to submit solutions to them. It was a three-member committee chaired by former Kerala High Court judge Justice Hema. Film actress Sharada and former IAS officer KB Vatsalakumari, were other members of the committee. The committee was formed when the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), an organization formed after the incident of a young actress; who was assaulted in the year 2017 in Kochi, complained to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
