Kristin L Bass served as a United States Air Force officer. She made history by becoming the first and only female fighter pilot assigned at the 188th Fighter Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard, Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Bass flew both F-16 Fighting Falcons and A-10C Thunderbolt II "Warthogs" during her stint at 188th and was the unit's first and lone female pilot. Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt.) Bass was accepted as 188th Fighter Wing's first female pilot trainee, in February 1999^[1] and made her first training mission flight with F-16 Fighting Falcon on 4 April 2002,^[2]^[3] and later she became an A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthogs" pilot until 2008, following her final flight with A-10 at the 188th Fighter Wing in Fort Smith, Ark., October 6, 2008.^[4]

She has been announced in air force news and media several times, as one of the first Women fighter pilots who earned respect on air force magazine article "The Quiet Pioneers" in December 2002^[5] 188th Fighter Wing's celebrating Women's History Month on 6 March 2010,^[6] Flying Razorback Flashback as 188th's first female pilot in March 2015^[1] and "Women at War: Iraq, Afghanistan, and Other Conflicts" book written by James E. Wise, Jr., Scott Baron, Naval Institute Press, 2011.^[7]

355th Fighter Squadron United States Air Force unit

The 355th Fighter Squadron is a United States Air Force unit stationed at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. It is an active-duty associate unit administratively assigned to the 495th Fighter Group and operates aircraft assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command's 301st Fighter Wing. Prior to its reactivation in 2015, the unit's last assignment was that of a subordinate unit of the 354th Fighter Wing based at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, flying the Republic A/OA-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft. The squadron was inactivated on 15 August 2007 as a result of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) 2005.

The 103d Airlift Wing is a unit of the Connecticut Air National Guard, stationed at Bradley Air National Guard Base at Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, Connecticut. The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin turbofan engine, straight wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force (USAF). It is commonly referred to by the nicknames "Warthog" or "Hog", although the A-10's official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, a World War II fighter-bomber effective at attacking ground targets. The A-10 was designed for close air support (CAS) of friendly ground troops, attacking armored vehicles and tanks, and providing quick-action support against enemy ground forces. It entered service in 1976 and is the only production-built aircraft that has served in the USAF that was designed solely for CAS. Its secondary mission is to provide forward air controller – airborne support, by directing other aircraft in attacks on ground targets. Aircraft used primarily in this role are designated OA-10.

Jeannie Marie Leavitt is a United States Air Force general officer. She became the United States Air Force's first female fighter pilot in 1993, and was the first woman to command a USAF combat fighter wing.

Rebecca Ohm is a United States Air Force officer and the first female fighter pilot at the 180th Fighter Wing and within the state of Ohio selected to fly a General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. Her aviator call sign is "Buffy". Ohm is Commander of the 180th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 180th Fighter Wing, Toledo Air National Guard Base, Swanton, Ohio.
