Kristine Poghosyan (born 27 September 1982) is a politician and member of the National Assembly of Armenia for the Civil Contract.
Kristine Poghosyan was born in Ptghni,Kotayk Province,Soviet Armenia on 27 September 1982. [1] She studied Cybernetics at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia and graduated in 2003. She followed up on her studies and obtained a second degree from the same university in Humanitarian and Economic Management in 2007. [1]
Her professional career began in the Human Resources department of the Yerevan Brandy Company,of which she was the director between 2005 and 2007. [1] In 2007 she transferred to the Imex Group for which she was also responsible for the Human Resources until 2010. [1] In 2013 she was involved in the founding of the jewelry company Tre Gufo for which she acted as its director until 2018. [1]
In May 2018 she assumed a position as an assistant for the First Deputy Prime Minister. She resigned in January 2019 after she was elected to the National Assembly of Armenia in the Parliamentary elections of December 2018 representing the Civil Contract. [1] She is a supporter of the LGTB community of Armenia [2] [3] and also the improvement of the inter-parliamentarian cooperation between the parliaments of Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia. [4]

The Republic of Artsakh is a republic with limited recognition in the South Caucasus region. The Republic of Artsakh controls most of the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. It is recognized only by three other non-UN member states,Abkhazia,South Ossetia and Transnistria. The rest of the international community recognizes Artsakh as part of Armenia. In November 2012,a member of Uruguay's foreign relations committee stated that his country could recognize Nagorno-Karabakh's independence. In 2012,Armenia and Tuvalu established diplomatic relations and it was expected that Tuvalu may recognize Artsakh's independence. In October 2012,the Australian state of New South Wales recognized Nagorno-Karabakh. In September 2014,the Basque Parliament in Spain adopted a motion supporting Artsakh's right to self-determination and in November 2014,the Parliament of Navarre,also in Spain,issued a statement supporting Artsakh's inclusion in taking part in settlement negotiations.
Human rights in Armenia tend to be better than those in most former Soviet republics and have drawn closer to acceptable standards,especially economically. Still,there are several considerable problems.
Lesbian,gay,bisexual,and transgender (LGBT) persons in Armenia face legal and social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents,due in part to the lack of laws prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity and in part to prevailing negative attitudes about LGBT persons throughout society.
