Uttam Kumar, widely known as Mahanayak, was an Indian film actor, producer, director, screenwriter, composer, and playback singer who predominantly worked in Bengali cinema. His career spanned three decades, from the late 1940s until his death in 1980. Kumar is regarded as one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema and also the most popular and successful film star in Bengal.

Sabitri Chatterjee is an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali theatre and cinema. Her career spans more than 60 years. She is the recipient of BFJA Awards for two times. In 1999, she was conferred with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for acting in Bengali theatre. In 2013, she was awarded by the Government of West Bengal its highest civilian award; the Banga Bibhushan. In 2014, Government of India conferred upon her its fourth-highest civilian award the Padma Shri.
Ogo Bodhu Shundori English: Hey Beautiful Bride) is a 1981 Bengali comedy film, directed by Salil Dutta. It was one of the last films of the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who died during production. A lookalike, Prabir Kumar, was brought in to stand in for Kumar for the final sections of the film and for the song O Daddy, O Mummy. The film starred also Moushumi Chatterjee, Sumitra Mukherjee, Ranjit Mallick and Santosh Dutta. The movie is a Bengali reworking of the story of Pygmalion, heavily drawing upon the British musical My Fair Lady.

Chaowa Pawa is a 1959 Indian Bengali-language romantic comedy film directed by three directors Sachin Mukherjee, Dilip Mukherjee, and Tarun Majumdar. It is based on the 1934 Academy Awards winning American film It Happened One Night. The film stars Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. This is the debut film of the legendary director Tarun Majumder and it is regarded as one of the best films pairing Uttam-Suchitra. The film became a huge success.

Mahua Roy Choudhury was an Indian actress who is recognized for her work in Bengali cinema. She is considered to be one of the most successful actresses of Bengali Cinema. She received several awards including a Filmfare Award. She was posthumously conferred with the Best Actress Award for her role in Aadmi Aur Aurat (1984) at the 5th Damascus International Film Festival in 1987.

After seven back to back flop films he was called 'flop master general', and he considered to leave the film industry. The success of this film saved his career. The film was remade in Hindi as Hum Hindustani in 1960.
Marutirtha Hinglaj is a 1959 Indian Bengali-language drama film directed and produced by Bikash Roy. This was based on a same name travelogue of Bengali novelist Kalikananda Abadhuta. The film was made under the banner of Bikash Roy Productions and Janata Pictures and Theatres Limited. The lead actors are Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, and Anil Chatterjee. The music is by the Hemanta Mukherjee.
