Kuljit Singh Nagra [1] (born August 31, 1965) is an Indian politician. He was Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Fatehgarh Sahib until 2022, representing the Indian National Congress. As a professional, he is an advocate in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and a member of the Punjab High Court and Haryana Bar Association Chandigarh. [2]
Nagra became active in politics while at college. He was the president of Khalsa College Students Union, Chandigarh, from 1985 to 1986, and Panjab University Campus Students Council, Chandigarh, from 1989 to 1995. [3] He organized cultural activities such as the All India Inter-University Youth Festival "Jhankar" in 1987–88, 1989–90 and 1991–92 at Panjab University. [4]
He was convener for the Panjab University Students Consultative Committee (PUSCC) from 1989 to 1992 and also chair of the Northern University Student Coordination Committee from 1991 to 1992. [5] He was convener for the Students Association of North Zone Universities from 1992 to 1994, organising the North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival on behalf of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in 1992–93 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. [6] He was elected as a President for Panjab University Students Council of Session 1992–93.
He held the position of chairman in Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) from 1995 to 1998. [7] He was also the founding president of the All India Law Students' Association.
He was a Zonal in charge of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) to oversee and coordinate the election work in the 2002 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election.
Nagra was the MLA from Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, until 2022. [8] He has also held the post of President of the Kisan and Khet Mazdoor Congress in Punjab, [9] and was in charge of programmes at the National Students' Union of India. He is elected member of the PCC from Block Khera of Fatehgarh Sahib Assembly constituency. Previously he was General Secretary of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and elected Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Member from 2007 to 2010. He graduated from Panjab University (1996 -2000), where he was elected as a Senate Member of the constituency. He was a General Secretary of Punjab Youth Congress from 1995 to 1997. [10] Also, he served as an In-charge of the Harchandpur Assembly of Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency from where Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji contested elections.
Panjab University (PU) is an Indian collegiate public state university located in Chandigarh. Funded through both State and Union governments, it is considered a state university. It traces its origins to the University of the Punjab in Lahore, which was founded in 1882. After the partition of India, the university was established on 1 October 1947, and called East Punjab University. Initially housed primarily at a cantonment in Solan, it later relocated to a newly built campus in Chandigarh, and was renamed Panjab University. It is accredited by NAAC at five star level, with the highest NAAC A++ accreditation grade.

Devi Lal, also known as Chaudhary Devi Lal, was an Indian statesman and politician who served as 6th Deputy Prime Minister of India from 1989 to 1990 and from 1990 to 1991. Harcharan Singh Brar was an Indian politician belonging to the Punjab unit of Indian National Congress. He was the 13th Chief Minister of Punjab and held this position from 31 August 1995 to 21 November 1996. He succeeded the assassinated Chief Minister Beant Singh. At the time he was member of Punjab Vidhan Sabha from Muktsar Assembly Constituency.
Randeep Singh Surjewala is an Indian politician from Haryana and a member of Indian National Congress party. He was an MLA in the Haryana state legislature until 2019 and a former minister. He held water supply and sanitation, parliamentary affairs, electronics and information technology, science and technology and public works as a minister in Haryana cabinet. In 2005, he was given the responsibility of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs and thus became the youngest minister in Haryana. He defeated Om Prakash Chautala in 1996 and 2005. As of December 2017, Surjewala is one of the official spokespersons of Indian National Congress party, and as of September 2021, is a General Secretary of the Indian National Congress and Party in-charge for Karnataka. In the biennial elections of the Rajya Sabha for the State of Rajasthan, held on 10 June 2022, Mr. Surjewala was elected as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, with his term to start on 5 July 2022.
Manish Tewari is an Indian lawyer and politician. He studied from St. John's High School, Chandigarh. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and represents Chandigarh in the current 18th Lok Sabha. He represented Anandpur Sahib in the 17th Lok Sabha. He was Minister of Information and Broadcasting from 2012 to 2014 and a Member of Parliament from Ludhiana from 2009 to 2014. He contested and won from Chandigarh in the 2024 Indian general election.

With over 65 million digitized pages, it is the biggest resource of digital material on Panjab. There are many historically significant documents stored and made available online. Its scope covers Sikh and Punjabi culture. The library funded by The Nanakshahi Trust was launched online in August 2009. Its base office is located at Chandigarh, India.
Naresh Kamboj is an Indian politician, a leader of the Indian National Congress and the currently member of Debt Conciliation Board, Govt. of Haryana. He became the member of Haryana Environment Protection Council for the first time in June 2006. In January 2007 he was appointed as the member of Debt Conciliation Board, Govt. of Haryana.

Dalvir Singh Khangura, known as "Goldy", was born on 24 September 1982 in a Jat Sikh family in Dhuri, District Sangrur, Punjab India. He has done his schooling from S.V.M., Dhuri. He later joined S.D. College, Chandigarh and did his Graduation and PGDCA. is former MLA from Dhuri, Sangrur District, Punjab. He got elected for the seat in the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. He was a politician in Indian National Congress but joined Aam Aadmi Party in May 2024 in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Panjab University Campus Students Council or PUCSC is Students' union consisting of the departmental representatives and other office bearers like President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint-Secretary along with 123 Departmental Representatives (DRs) directly elected by the students from the various teaching departments on the Panjab University, Chandigarh campus. Furthermore, these elected office-bearers and department representatives elect the remaining five members of the executive of the Council. The Dean Student Welfare is ex officio Chairman of the Council. Elections are held every year in August–September months. There is ban on property defacement for clean elections.

The Students For Society (SFS) was founded in Panjab University, Chandigarh on 28 September 2010 as a students' discussion group for holding discussions on books and social issues, on the 103rd birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh. It rejected the politics of muscle and money power by mainstream political parties in University. It also rejected the politics of those who were trying to get votes by offering movie shows, dinners, trips and beauty parlour coupons. SFS takes out its rallies on foot with singing of slogans with a Tambourine (Dafli) while other parties took out rallies in cars. Its rallies are joined by a considerable number of campus students while the SOI, PUSU and NSUI alliances had to call outsiders in violation of the Lyngdoh panel norms.
