Kultur Shock is a Seattle-based folk punk band which specializes in mixing music like rock, metal and punk with traditional Balkan music.
Active since 1996, Kultur Shock combines Balkan folk music with punk, metal and art rock. [1] Its members hail from Bosnia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, and the United States. [2] The band has released 13 albums and had performed over 1,500 shows throughout the United States and Europe. [3] Kultur Shock was signed to Bill Gould's KoolArrow record label from 2001 to 2006 and released three albums for the label: FUCC the INS, Kultura-Diktatura and We Came to Take Your Jobs Away. [4] In 2006 the band formed its own label Kultur Shock Records and publishing company, Kultur Shock Music. [5]
In 2011, the band attended the Motovun Film Festival along with Pips, Chips & Videoclips and performer Nick Cave. [6]
In 2014, Kultur Shock released IX, their ninth album and sixth collaboration with engineer/producer Jack Endino.
The band defines itself as "a live band of blue-collar immigrants". [7]
Chris Stromquist (b. 5 March 1973) is an American drummer and member of Kultur Shock, [8] the Brooklyn-based Balkan brass band Slavic Soul Party. [9] [10] and the New York avant-garde salsa band Zemog El Gallo Bueno.

Matko Šašek, also known as Koolade is a Croatian hip-hop, electronic, and urban music producer. Born in Zagreb in the late 1970s, he began his music career in the late 1990s. Along with other members of the Blackout family he played a major role in establishing hip-hop genre in the Croatian and regional (Balkans) music scene, rocking charts, record sales and winning a few national music awards in Croatia and Bosnia.
Adnan Hamidović, better known by his stage name Frenkie, is a Bosnian rapper from Tuzla. The themes present in his music are often concerned with the political situation in Bosnia, as well as traditional hip-hop subject matter such as battle rapping and pop culture. He was one of the pioneers for graffiti and hip-hop culture in Bosnia. As of 2022, he has recorded seven successful full-length albums: Odličan CD (2005), Povratak Cigana (2007), Protuotrov (2009), Troyanac (2012), Putanja, Egzil, album 2020, and Stari Frenkie (2021). He also released extended plays Pokreni se (2008), DNA, and a Bosnian-only album, DOSTA (2006).

Štrajk mozga is the fifth studio album by Bosnian hip-hop star Edo Maajka, released on April 21, 2012. Edo explained in an interview that the title refers to the escape from "norms, media, parents, religion and everything else that takes you away from yourself". The first single was "Imaš li ti šta para", followed by "Panika", for which a music video was released, and the third single "Džigera beat" was released on April 19, 2012.
