The Kumhar mine is one of the largest magnesium mines in Pakistan and in the world. [1] The mine is located in the north of the country in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. [1] The mine has estimated reserves of 14 million tonnes of ore 46% magnesium. [1]

Sohni Mahiwal is a tragic love story which inverts the classical motif of Hero and Leander. The heroine Sohni, unhappily married to a man she despises, swims every night across the river using an earthenware pot to keep afloat in the water, to where her beloved Mehar herds buffaloes. One night her sister-in-law replaces the earthenware pot with a vessel of unbaked clay, which dissolves in water and she dies in the whirling waves of the river.

Nawab Kumhar Inayat Kotia was a Punjabi singer, songwriter and composer from Kot Inayat Khan village situated in, Wazirabad Tehsil, Gujranwala District, Punjab, Pakistan. He wrote, directed and sang many famous Punjabi songs based on the folklore and heroic characters of Punjab. Nawab Kumhar's folk singing style left a strong impact on later folk singers who adopted his style of singing particularly his jugni singing style which was later adopted by next generation singers like Alam Lohar and made more famous among the next generations through Radio and TV singing platforms.
