Swimming as usual was one of the three aquatics disciplines at the 1980 Summer Olympics—the other two being Water Polo and Diving. It was held in the Swimming Pool of the Olimpiysky Sports Complex between July 20 and July 27. There was a total of 333 participants from 41 countries competing.
Claes Arne Borg was a Swedish swimmer. He is best known for breaking 32 world records and winning five Olympic medals in the 1920s. In 1926 Borg won the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal, shared with Edvin Wide. Next year, at the 1927 European Championships, he set a new world record in the 1500 m at 19:07.2 which stood for nearly 11 years. Besides swimming, Borg also won a European silver medal in water polo in 1926. His twin brother Åke was also an Olympic medalist in swimming.
The freestyle skiing competition of the 1994 Winter Olympics was held at Kanthaugen Freestyle Arena. There were four events, taking place between 15 and 24 February 1994. The freestyle program was expanded at this Olympics, with aerials, previously a demonstration event, added as a full medal event.

His 4 × 200 m relay teams finished in fourth place in 1948 and 1952; they won gold medals at the European championships in 1947 and 1954.
Berith Agneta Eriksson is a Swedish former freestyle swimmer. Aged fifteen she won a silver medal in 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow along with Carina Ljungdahl, Tina Gustafsson and Agneta Mårtensson. She also competed in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics.
Kurt Sigvard Elimä was a Swedish ski jumper who competed internationally from 1963 to 1968. He finished seventh in the individual normal hill event at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck.
Gunnar Erik Emanuel Wennerström was a Swedish water polo player and freestyle swimmer who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics.
Carl "Calle" Oscar Westergren was a Swedish wrestler who competed in the 1920, 1924, 1928, and 1932 Summer Olympics. He won gold medals in Greco-Roman wrestling in 1920, 1924 and 1932; in 1924 he also finished sixth in freestyle wrestling.

Ernst Hilding Waldemar Nilsson was a Swedish heavyweight wrestler who competed at the 1912, 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling in 1920 and placed fourth-fifth in the Greco-Roman and freestyle contests in 1924. Nilsson won two world titles in Greco-Roman wrestling, in 1913 and 1922.
Karl Martin Lundén was a Swedish swimmer who won the 4×200 m freestyle European title in 1947. He competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics in the 100 m backstroke and 100 m and 4×200 m freestyle events and finished fourth in the relay.
Per-Ola Lindberg was a Swedish freestyle swimmer who competed at the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics. He placed fifth-sixth in the 4 × 100 m and 4 × 200 m relays, and finished eighth in the individual 100 m in 1960. He won three medals in these events at the 1962 European Aquatics Championships. He competed in NCAA Championships in 1963 and won 1st place for the 100 yd freestyle. His time was 47.1 seconds.
Willy Lars-Erik Bengtsson is a retired Swedish freestyle swimmer who won the European title in the 4×200 m freestyle relay in 1962. He competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in the 1500 m and 4×200 m events and finished sixth in the relay.
